Tom Hanks reveals that fans frequently shout some of his most iconic movie lines at him in public, a phenomenon he has grown accustomed to over the years. This insight came during a recent interview reported by the New York Post, where the beloved actor discussed how his film career often intertwines with his everyday life.

Hanks mentioned that he never knows which line will be shouted at him when he is recognized on the street. Nevertheless, he feels fortunate that many of his films have become ingrained in popular culture.

“I’m kind of lucky that there are a lot of phrases that people just shout at me,” he remarked.

He then shared a list of the quotes he hears most frequently. These include memorable lines from several of his biggest hits. Fans often shout “Run!” from ‘Forrest Gump,’ “I wish I was big” from ‘Big,’ “Wilson!” from ‘Cast Away,’ “Brace for impact” from ‘Sully,’ and “Houston, we have a problem” from ‘Apollo 13.’

These films span a significant portion of his career, showcasing a range of emotional drama, adventure, and comedy. Hanks finds it fascinating that such diverse roles continue to resonate with fans even decades later, even during his daily routines.

The interview occurred during a red carpet event for the Broadway show ‘Celebrity Autobiography,’ where Hanks attended alongside his wife, Rita Wilson. While speaking with reporters, he also shared his reasons for not planning to write a memoir.

He stated that the main reason is straightforward: his family would not let him get away with it. “Because I have too many family members who would literally camp out at my door with copies of the book and underline parts and say, ‘You described this moment completely wrong.’ I don’t want to put myself in that situation,” he explained.

Despite not writing a memoir, Hanks remains active in the film industry. He is also gearing up for a return to one of his most beloved roles, voicing Woody in ‘Toy Story 5,’ which is set to release on June 19.

Hanks reflected on his long involvement with the franchise and the unexpected success it has achieved. He noted that he and co-star Tim Allen never anticipated it would endure for so long.

“None of us could have imagined it. You know, Tim Allen and I walked into the Disney studio in 1991, which seemed like some kind of crazy prank at the time, and we still go into that same studio today and work on something that is incredible, almost incomprehensible to us,” he shared.

He added that even after decades of working on the films, the experience often feels surreal. “Sometimes we have to pinch ourselves to make sure that we are really a part of something that has been going on for so long,” Hanks said.

From spontaneous street encounters to enduring franchises, Hanks’ career remains vibrant in both his professional and personal life. Fans consistently remind him of his most memorable moments, and he seems to embrace it all with grace.
