Nicholas Galitzine Reveals Intense Training for ‘Masters of the Universe’ Featurette
A new featurette for Masters of the Universe has provided fans with an inside look at Nicholas Galitzine’s transformation into He-Man.
In recent interviews, the actor shared insights about the rigorous preparation he underwent for the role. Galitzine explained that taking on this character required him to follow a demanding physical regimen during the filming of the upcoming live-action reboot.
He described the training as fast-paced and intense, stating, “It was a pretty short amount of time. You kind of would love to live in this character for a year beforehand but the training very much changed as the movie went on.” Galitzine noted that the production team encouraged him to gain as much muscle as possible for his portrayal of Prince Adam and He-Man.
At times, his daily routine became extremely strict. He revealed, “having up to 5,000 calories sometimes, weightlifting for three hours a day,” detailing how his diet and workouts were tailored to promote rapid muscle growth. As filming progressed, the approach became more controlled yet remained demanding.
Balancing such physical strain with the fast-paced production proved challenging. He explained, “So, you’re shooting a scene, they say, ‘You have 10 minutes until the next set up,’ you run outside, you hop on the assault bike, run back in, shoot a scene again, and that kind of goes on for about five months.”
The actor added that managing his diet while performing action-heavy scenes made things even more difficult. He mentioned, “You have that brain fog. So, I definitely felt like that was a thing but especially when you’re doing these action set pieces, you’ve gotta have energy for it.”
Masters of the Universe is directed by Travis Knight and is based on the classic Mattel franchise. The narrative follows Prince Adam as he discovers his destiny as He-Man and returns to Eternia to confront Skeletor in a battle to save his world.
The film has undergone years of development before finally moving forward under Amazon MGM Studios. It was filmed in London between 2025 and 2026, following numerous changes in direction, casting, and production plans.
Alongside Nicholas Galitzine, the cast features Camila Mendes, Idris Elba, Jared Leto, and Alison Brie. The movie is scheduled for release on June 5 and is anticipated to present a large-scale action narrative centered on He-Man’s transformation and his battle against Skeletor.
