‘The Boys’ Star Jeffrey Dean Morgan Hopes for Jensen Ackles in The Walking Dead: Dead City
Jeffrey Dean Morgan has once again ignited excitement among fans of The Walking Dead universe by discussing a potential reunion with his former Supernatural co-star Jensen Ackles in ‘The Walking Dead: Dead City’. The idea has been circulating for some time, but Morgan made it clear he would still love to see it come to fruition.
These comments originated from a fan convention panel in Burbank, where Morgan shared his thoughts on the possibility of Ackles joining the Dead City world. The discussion, captured through fan recordings and later reported via YouTube sources, showcases Morgan enthusiastically encouraging the crossover.
“Yeah, that would just be phenomenal to see. Yeah, funny enough, we had a conversation a couple of weeks ago about it… um, I think so. I mean, I’d love to have him; he would love to come and do it – sometimes, our schedules won’t quite work out the way we want them to,” Morgan expressed.
He also mentioned that this idea is something both actors have previously discussed, but timing remains a significant hurdle. Both Morgan and Ackles have hectic schedules, making it challenging to coordinate a project together.
Morgan did not hide his excitement, indicating he would seize the opportunity if it arose again. His remarks suggest that the idea is not merely fan wishful thinking, but something that has been directly communicated between the two actors.
Jensen Ackles also discussed his working relationships with friends in the industry, noting how those connections often lead to future collaborations. His comments were part of the same broader discussion and reflect his willingness to work with trusted colleagues.
“This is a real sweet spot, I think, in both our careers, that we can have dear friends who are thriving in a multitude of shows and movies and stuff in this industry. In this industry, people like to work with people they trust, and so now I have,” Ackles stated.
He elaborated that actors often receive invitations to join projects from friends, but scheduling conflicts frequently hinder those plans. Nonetheless, he emphasized the importance of any opportunity to collaborate with people he knows and respects.
“But like Jeff said, a lot of it comes down to availability and whether or not they can work that out,” he added.
Ackles concluded on a hopeful note, expressing that any chance to share the screen again would be welcomed. While he did not confirm any specific plans, his comments indicate he is open to the idea if the timing aligns.
The Walking Dead: Dead City continues to expand the franchise that began with the original The Walking Dead series. The show follows Maggie and Negan as they navigate a perilous version of Manhattan filled with threats, rival factions, and survival challenges. It has already been renewed for multiple seasons, demonstrating strong ongoing interest from viewers.

Morgan reprises his role as Negan in the series, alongside Lauren Cohan as Maggie. The narrative revolves around their uneasy alliance as they search for Maggie’s kidnapped son in a lawless New York City.
While the idea of bringing Jensen Ackles into this universe remains unconfirmed, Morgan’s remarks have rekindled fan interest. Whether this becomes a reality will depend on scheduling and future creative decisions, but both actors have expressed their openness to the concept.
