Chloe Cherry Discusses Working With Sam Levinson on ‘Euphoria’ Set
Chloe Cherry, who became a notable presence in ‘Euphoria’ during its later seasons, has shared her insights on collaborating with Sam Levinson. In her recent interview with Glamour, she candidly addressed both the positive and negative sentiments surrounding him on set.
Cherry expressed her enjoyment of working with Levinson, despite the fact that not all cast members share her enthusiasm. She stated, “I love working for Sam Levinson so much,” while acknowledging that “a lot of people don’t” feel the same way.
She suggested that some of the friction stems from Levinson’s directing approach. Cherry described him as meticulous and specific about his vision for the show, which encompasses everything from costumes to dialogue and even minor performance details.
She noted, “I think it’s because he is so specific about how everything needs to be. And there’s some people that I guess just don’t like how he’s so specific with how he imagines everything in the show.”
Cherry also mentioned that Levinson can change his mind rapidly on set, which may be challenging for some actors but intriguing for others. She finds this spontaneity exciting, although she recognizes that not everyone involved in a production might be comfortable with such constant adjustments.
She added, “I love how he can randomly change his mind and be so sure of everything that the characters wear and say, but I think some actors could find that to be too much.”
Her comments come amidst ongoing discussions about the behind-the-scenes environment of ‘Euphoria’. In recent years, there have been numerous reports and rumors regarding tensions during production, though not all have been officially verified by those involved.
One widely discussed incident involved actor Barbie Ferreira, who departed the series prior to its third season. While she described her exit as a mutual decision, speculation online suggested there were creative disagreements during filming.
Additionally, there have been reports of creative differences between Levinson and certain cast members, including claims of disputes over story direction and character development. These narratives have circulated in entertainment media but have not always been substantiated by those involved.

Another topic of discussion in industry coverage is Levinson’s control over the show’s creative direction. Some reports characterize him as very hands-on with writing and directing, often closely shaping scenes during production. Supporters of his method argue that it helps maintain a cohesive creative vision, while critics contend it can lead to tension on set.
Recently, entertainment reports have also highlighted speculation regarding relationships among key figures in the series, including claims of tension between Levinson and lead actor Zendaya. These allegations have not been publicly confirmed by either party, and both have generally refrained from commenting on the rumors.
Despite the ongoing discussions about production conditions, Cherry used her interview to defend some of the creative choices made in the show. She also addressed criticism regarding how ‘Euphoria’ depicts young women, asserting that the series aims to reflect societal issues rather than vilify its characters.
Cherry views Levinson’s work as a commentary on contemporary perceptions of young women, rather than a critique of the characters themselves. She believes the show seeks to portray uncomfortable truths instead of romanticizing them.
Additionally, Cherry shared her unique background prior to joining ‘Euphoria’, noting her experience in adult entertainment and her prior role in a parody of the series. She believes this background provides her with a distinct perspective on the show’s themes and its portrayal of sexuality and modeling.
As ‘Euphoria’ continues to evolve, discussions surrounding its production style and creative leadership remain integral to the broader conversation about the series.
