Jacob Elordi Discusses Nate Jacobs’ Shocking Snake Death in ‘Euphoria’
Jacob Elordi has opened up about bidding farewell to his character Nate Jacobs after a dramatic and shocking storyline in the show’s third season. Nate, one of the series’ most controversial figures, meets a violent and unusual end that has sparked extensive discussion among fans.
Throughout the season, Nate grapples with significant personal and financial challenges. He faces mounting debt while attempting to maintain some semblance of stability in his life. As the season progresses, his relationships deteriorate, leaving him increasingly isolated and stressed.
The climax of his storyline unfolds at a construction site where he becomes trapped inside a wooden box buried underground. The situation escalates quickly as he finds himself unable to escape. While calling for help, he is ultimately discovered too late, resulting in a tragic conclusion to his arc in the series.
The most shocking moment occurs when a rattlesnake slithers through a small opening and bites him in the confined space. This unexpected twist serves as a chilling turn of events that seals his fate. His body is later found by characters Sydney Sweeney and Alexa Demie, who portray Cassie Jacobs and Maddy Perez, respectively.
After the episode aired, Elordi discussed the filming experience, revealing that it wasn’t as uncomfortable as many might assume. In post-episode commentary, he shared that being in the tight space sometimes felt surprisingly calm.
He stated, “It was really nice, actually – it was quite peaceful in there.”
He described the set as physically restrictive, with limited movement once the scene was set. His arms were pinned, and the box lid was secured during filming, creating a completely enclosed environment.

Elordi also shared his experience working with the live snake featured in the scene. While the moment appears intense on screen, he noted that the snake itself was not as intimidating as it may seem.
He remarked, “He was super cute; he was really cuddly.” He added that the snake was calm and slow-moving during the shoot, even describing it as sleepy while on set. The only aspect that startled him was the sound of the rattling tail.
Despite the unusual nature of the scene, Elordi expressed satisfaction with how his character’s story concludes. Nate Jacobs has been a central figure in ‘Euphoria’ since its inception in 2019, involved in many of the show’s most intense narratives.
Throughout the series, Nate has navigated complex relationships, personal trauma, and the repercussions of his actions. His arc in the third season builds on these themes as his life begins to unravel.
Elordi reflected on the conclusion of his time on the show, expressing pride in being part of it. He mentioned that the series has significantly impacted his life and career, and he values the experience of portraying such a complex character over multiple seasons.
With Nate Jacobs now written out of the narrative, ‘Euphoria’ moves forward without one of its most controversial characters. This ending leaves a lasting impression on viewers and signifies a major shift in the series’ direction.
