Emma Corrin Hints at a Possible Cassandra Nova x Professor X Movie
In a recent interview with Variety, Emma Corrin expressed a keen interest in returning to the Marvel universe for a potential spin-off centered on Cassandra Nova and Professor X.
Emma Corrin made their Marvel debut in 2024’s Deadpool & Wolverine, portraying Cassandra Nova, a formidable villain closely linked to Charles Xavier, also known as Professor X. In the film, Cassandra is depicted as Xavier’s dangerous and destructive twin, sharing his origin but taking a much darker path. Although her character’s storyline concludes in the movie, Corrin indicated they are open to reprising the role.
Discussing the possibility of continuing the narrative, Corrin remarked, “Internet, make it happen!” This comment quickly gained traction among fans, who began speculating on how Cassandra Nova might return in future Marvel projects.
Before joining the Marvel franchise, Corrin was recognized for their roles in period dramas such as The Crown, along with films like The Policeman and Lady Chatterley’s Lover. They described the transition from smaller dramatic roles to a large-scale superhero production as initially overwhelming. Corrin shared, “I felt like I was at some kind of theme park all the time because things were just so overwhelming and I was like, ‘This cannot be real. I must be walking around with a visitor’s pass. Like, I can’t belong here.’”
Despite the magnitude of the production, Corrin noted that the experience became more manageable thanks to Ryan Reynolds, Hugh Jackman, and director Shawn Levy, who fostered a relaxed atmosphere on set. They explained, “They made it feel like a small thing, not this massive scary thing,” adding that the set transformed into a “playground” once filming commenced.
In Deadpool & Wolverine, Cassandra Nova is characterized as a powerful psychic villain with a calm yet dangerous demeanor. She is introduced as Professor X’s twin, establishing a direct connection to one of the most pivotal figures in the X-Men universe. Although she appears as an antagonist in the film, her character has rich origins in Marvel Comics.
In the original Marvel Comics, Cassandra Nova is more than just a typical foe. She is described as a “mummudrai,” a type of psychic twin that forms before birth, sharing a bond with Charles Xavier from the very beginning. In the comics, she serves as a dark reflection of Xavier, embodying everything he is not. While Xavier strives for mutant peace, Cassandra embraces violence and destruction.
Their relationship is both emotional and biological, with Cassandra often depicted as possessing telepathic abilities akin to Xavier, making her one of his most formidable adversaries. She has been known to cause significant chaos in the comics, including assaults on mutants and key X-Men locations.
Given this profound connection, fans have speculated that a story featuring Cassandra and Professor X could delve into more emotional or character-driven themes if they were to appear together on screen again. This is part of the reason Emma Corrin’s suggestion for a spin-off has garnered attention.
Corrin proposed a unique direction for the characters moving forward, stating, “I would like to see a Professor X and Cassandra Nova bonding film — a sibling comedy like ‘Step Brothers.’ Make it happen! Internet, do your thing!”
The notion of a lighter tone between two characters typically portrayed in opposition is what makes this suggestion particularly intriguing. Rather than focusing solely on conflict or destruction, Corrin envisions a narrative where the two psychic twins navigate an unconventional relationship dynamic.
As of now, Marvel has not confirmed any spin-off involving Cassandra Nova or Professor X. However, with increasing interest from both fans and actors, the idea continues to circulate online as a potential future direction for the X-Men universe.
