Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway Encounter Dinosaurs in New ‘The End of Oak Street’ Trailer
A fresh trailer for ‘The End of Oak Street’ has just been released, showcasing a bizarre and exciting premise: a tranquil suburban street is overrun by dinosaurs.
Starring Ewan McGregor and Anne Hathaway, the film follows a typical neighborhood family as they navigate chaos after their once-peaceful street transforms into a dangerous landscape filled with giant dinosaurs hunting for prey.
Produced by J.J. Abrams and directed by David Robert Mitchell, known for ‘It Follows’, the trailer indicates that this film transcends the typical monster movie genre. It blends family drama with survival horror in a uniquely thrilling setting.
A peculiar cosmic event transports Oak Street from its familiar world into a perilous environment. The Platt family, central to the narrative, must stick together to survive the impending threats.
Director David Robert Mitchell shared insights about the film’s concept, stating, “A few years ago, I was walking through our neighborhood in Michigan, just walking down the street, and I was passing by this garage [with a] chain link fence and garbage cans. And I was struck by the image of, like, ‘It’d be really interesting if there was a dinosaur right there.’”
He elaborated on his passion for dinosaur films and his desire to approach the genre from a fresh perspective. “Just like anybody, the first Jurassic Park movie, I absolutely love. But for me, my language of dinosaur movies goes back much further. I’d be lying if I say that that isn’t a movie that I absolutely love because I do. But I wanted to do something different.”

He added that the film aims to blend various tones, including suspense, drama, and humor. “It’s the merging of character with spectacle, the way that I think some of those ‘70s and ‘80s movies did really well. There are moments of drama, of terror and suspense, and humor. It really does move through the range.”
‘The End of Oak Street’ is scheduled to hit theaters and IMAX on August 14. It will be released just weeks after ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, and early reports suggest it could emerge as one of the summer’s unexpected hits if it resonates with audiences.
