A collection of throwback photos featuring Camila Mendes from a 2023 Miami getaway with Rudy Mancuso has resurfaced, capturing renewed interest as she promotes her latest film Masters of the Universe.
The images depict Mendes enjoying a beach day in a white bikini adorned with soft floral patterns. Mancuso complemented the vibrant atmosphere in lilac swim trunks. Mendes added a festive flair with a New Year’s hat and headband at various moments. One photo shows her lounging with a drink, soaking in the sun and beach vibes.
These nostalgic pictures are trending again as Mendes embarks on a new chapter in her career, focusing on big-budget films and global press tours. Fans have been sharing the images across social media, reflecting on how her public persona has evolved since that trip.
During the Miami vacation in 2023, Mendes was primarily recognized for her role in Riverdale while she was also carving out her path in film. Fast forward a few years, and she is now stepping into a significant blockbuster role in Masters of the Universe.
This film, officially titled Masters of the Universe (released internationally as He-Man and the Masters of the Universe), is a fantasy action movie directed by Travis Knight. It draws inspiration from the classic Mattel franchise and marks the second live-action adaptation following the 1987 film. Nicholas Galitzine stars as Prince Adam / He-Man, with Mendes taking on a pivotal role alongside a star-studded cast that includes Jared Leto, Alison Brie, James Purefoy, Kristen Wiig, Morena Baccarin, and Idris Elba.
The narrative follows Prince Adam as he returns to the planet Eternia after a 15-year absence, only to find it under the control of the formidable villain Skeletor. To save Eternia and reclaim his legacy, he teams up with allies like Teela, portrayed by Mendes, and Man-At-Arms, ultimately embracing his destiny as He-Man.

The film’s production underwent a lengthy development phase, with multiple attempts to reboot the franchise over the years. Initially, Sony Pictures began working on a new version in 2009. The rights later transferred to Netflix in 2022 before being acquired by Amazon MGM Studios in 2024, where the current iteration was finalized under director Travis Knight. Filming occurred in London from January to June 2025.
The movie premiered at the TCL Chinese Theatre on May 18 and is set for theatrical release in the United States on June 5. Early reviews from critics have been mixed to positive, with attention now turning to its box office performance and global rollout.
As Mendes continues her promotional efforts for the film, the resurfaced Miami vacation photos have sparked discussions about her career transformation from a television star to a leading figure in a major fantasy franchise.
