Eva Green Hospitalized After Injury on ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 Set
Production on Netflix’s ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 faced an unexpected halt after actress Eva Green sustained an injury while filming in Ireland.
The French actress, who recently joined the popular series as Aunt Ophelia, reportedly suffered a serious leg injury during a shoot near Dublin. According to Hello!, Green was promptly taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. This incident led producers to temporarily modify the filming schedule while she recuperated. A source close to the production informed The Sun that the situation was serious, but Green received swift medical attention.
“This was really nasty. Eva sustained an injury and was clearly in pain, and producers were taking no chances. Medics were called, and Eva went to the hospital. She underwent treatment and is now recovering well.”
Despite the injury causing challenges for the production team, reports indicate that Green is on the mend, and filming is expected to resume with adjustments made around her recovery.
Green joined ‘Wednesday’ Season 3 in November, stepping into the role of Aunt Ophelia, Morticia Addams’s sister. Her casting was a significant moment for fans, especially after months of speculation about Lady Gaga potentially appearing in the role following her brief appearance in the previous season.
Before filming commenced, Green expressed her excitement about joining the unique and dark universe of the Addams family.
“I’m thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of ‘Wednesday’ as Aunt Ophelia. This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world; I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckoo-ness to the Addams family.”
The creators of the show, Al Gough and Miles Millar, also shared their thoughts on why they believed Green was the ideal choice for the role. In a statement released after her casting announcement, they praised her talent for bringing unusual and mysterious characters to life.
“Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen – elegant, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable. Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia. We’re excited to see how she transforms the role and expands ‘Wednesday’s’ world.”
‘Wednesday’ became one of Netflix’s biggest hits after its first season shattered viewing records, turning Jenna Ortega’s portrayal of Wednesday Addams into a global sensation. Due to the show’s immense popularity, Netflix has kept details about the third season tightly under wraps, with many story elements still shrouded in secrecy.

The new season will feature returning stars including Ortega, Catherine Zeta-Jones, Luis Guzmán, and Isaac Ordonez. With the show’s increasing popularity, the production has reportedly received a substantial budget, and significant efforts have been made to attract well-known actors.
A source previously described ‘Wednesday’ as one of Netflix’s top priorities, explaining that the success of the first season elevated the scale of the series.
“’Wednesday’ is a huge priority for Netflix. But since it became such a streaming success, the producers have gone to extraordinary lengths to keep the production secret. The budget for the show is enormous. No expense has been spared in securing huge name actors.”
Netflix representatives confirmed that the filming schedule had to be adjusted due to Green’s recovery, but production has continued as the team works to prevent major delays.
Fans are now eager to see how Aunt Ophelia will fit into the Addams family narrative when ‘Wednesday’ returns for its third season.
