Mika Abdalla is gaining recognition for her portrayal of Allie Hayes in Prime Video’s series Off Campus, but her career has also taken her through a very different type of show.

Previously, Abdalla starred in the medical drama The Pitt, where she embodied a contrasting character in a tense hospital narrative.

In The Pitt Season 1, Abdalla had a recurring role as Jenna Burke, an 18-year-old college student who arrives at the Pittsburgh Trauma Medical Center following an overdose. Her storyline unfolds over several episodes as she receives treatment from hospital staff and gradually begins her recovery.

Her character experiences emotional and challenging scenes tied to a broader narrative about drug use and its repercussions. At one point, she faces a parent figure linked to another student involved in the incident, which heightens the tension surrounding her recovery journey. By the conclusion of her arc, Jenna reconciles with the family involved and is discharged from the hospital in Episode 8.

While The Pitt delves into intense medical drama, Abdalla’s current role in Off Campus offers a different tone. The Prime Video series is a romantic drama centered around college life and hockey players, where she portrays Allie Hayes. Fans who have followed her career have noted the significant shift between these two roles.

Interestingly, there is a connection between the two shows. Jalen Thomas Brooks, who plays hockey player John Tucker in Off Campus, also appears in The Pitt as nurse Mateo Diaz. His character is among the first medical staff members Jenna encounters upon her arrival at the hospital.

Despite their shared experience on the same project, Abdalla and Brooks did not develop a close bond during the filming of The Pitt. Abdalla discussed this in an interview with Bustle, revealing that they had minimal interaction on set.

She mentioned, “I don’t think I talked to Jalen at all when we were filming ‘The Pitt.’ I was very much just in my trailer, like, trying to stay out of the way.” She also noted that he later remarked on her quiet demeanor during filming, which made her feel somewhat insecure at the time.

The two actors eventually reconnected during chemistry reads for Off Campus. Abdalla described the reunion as warm and unexpected after their earlier distance on the set of The Pitt. She recalled, “I walked in, and he was so sweet and came right up to me and was like, ‘Oh my god, hi, it’s so good to see you!’”

Brooks expressed his happiness at seeing her again, stating that it felt great to be reunited after their previous collaboration.

Now, Abdalla is taking on a more prominent role in Off Campus Season 2. The upcoming season will delve deeper into her character Allie’s romantic relationship with hockey player Dean Di Laurentis, portrayed by Stephen Kalyn. Her role is set to expand as the series continues to explore the dynamics of relationships and personal drama both on and off the ice.

Both Off Campus and The Pitt have contributed to raising awareness of Abdalla’s burgeoning career. Through production details and interviews, her performances in both shows showcase her versatility in transitioning between emotional drama and romantic storytelling in distinctly different environments.
