‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’ Trailer Unleashes Action as the Herd Faces New Perils
The beloved ‘Ice Age’ crew is back, and they’re diving headfirst into peril.
Disney and 20th Century Studios have unveiled the first teaser trailer for ‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’, offering fans a glimpse into the next installment of this iconic animated series. As per Disney’s announcement, the upcoming film will feature many fan-favorite characters embarking on an exciting new adventure filled with dinosaurs, lava, and a whirlwind of chaos.
The brief teaser quickly plunges the herd into turmoil. Manny, Sid, Diego, and their companions are seen being ejected from a volcano, setting off on an unforeseen journey. The clip also showcases a fleeting moment with Scrat, who remains fixated on his beloved acorn.
Disney describes the film as taking the characters “straight into a dinosaur-and-lava-filled madcap adventure to visit never-before-seen corners of the treacherous Lost World.” Although the teaser is just about a minute long, it effectively conveys the high-energy action and humor that fans can expect from the film.
One of the major draws for fans is the return of the original voice cast. Ray Romano reprises his role as Manny the woolly mammoth, Denis Leary returns as Diego the saber-toothed tiger, and John Leguizamo is back as the ever-chattering Sid the sloth. Simon Pegg returns as Buck Wild, and Queen Latifah is back as Ellie.
The trailer also includes appearances from Crash, Eddie, Scrat, and Baby Scrat, though it remains unconfirmed whether all their original voice actors will reprise their roles in the film.
‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’ represents a significant milestone for the franchise. It will be the first theatrical ‘Ice Age’ film released without Blue Sky Studios, the animation company responsible for previous entries before its closure in 2021 following Disney’s acquisition of 21st Century Fox.
Despite the studio’s closure, the franchise continues to captivate audiences globally. The original ‘Ice Age’ film debuted in 2002, achieving remarkable success. Over the years, it evolved into one of animation’s most beloved franchises, spawning multiple sequels, television specials, and spin-off projects.
Rumors of a sixth main ‘Ice Age’ film have been circulating for years. According to previous statements from franchise creators, concepts for another sequel were in the works as early as 2016. However, the project didn’t officially gain momentum until later. In 2024, John Leguizamo confirmed that a new movie was in development, with production reportedly commencing later that year. The official title, ‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’, was revealed in 2025.
The film is directed by John Donkin, known for his work on ‘The Ice Age Adventures of Buck Wild’. Producing responsibilities are handled by longtime franchise producer Lori Forte.
Fans will need to be patient before the herd returns to theaters. ‘Ice Age: Boiling Point’ is set to hit cinemas exclusively on February 5, 2027. Based on the initial teaser, it appears that Manny, Sid, Diego, and their friends are gearing up for one of their most formidable challenges yet.
