The LEGO Group has unveiled its most ambitious set to date, inspired by one of the world’s most iconic buildings. The new LEGO Architecture ‘Sagrada Família’ set is modeled after the legendary basilica in Barcelona, designed by Antoni Gaudí. This announcement was made on June 4, 2026, in Billund, Denmark, as reported by the LEGO Group.

This set is part of the LEGO Architecture line, which showcases intricate models of real-world landmarks. The release also commemorates the 100th anniversary of Gaudí’s death, serving as a special tribute to the architect’s enduring legacy.

The model is enormous, featuring 12,060 LEGO pieces, making it the largest LEGO set ever created by piece count. The design reflects the real-life construction process of the Sagrada Família, which has been under development for over a century. LEGO states that the build mirrors this journey step by step.

Construction begins with the lower sections of the basilica, including the Apse and Crypt. It progresses to key areas like the Nativity façade and Passion façade. Builders then work through the central naves and towers, concluding with the Eastern Sacristy and the Glory façade, effectively mirroring the real structure’s growth over time.

One of the model’s most impressive features is its stained-glass style effect, designed to emulate how light filters through the actual basilica. Once completed, the set transforms into a large display piece meant to be appreciated from all angles, serving not just as a toy but as a detailed architectural model.

Rok Žgalin Kobe, a designer for LEGO Architecture, discussed the challenges of creating this set. He stated, “We felt an immense responsibility to do justice to the Sagrada Família through this design. Our goal was to honour Gaudí’s vision with the utmost respect, capturing the rhythm of the basilica’s construction, its extraordinary complexity and ambition, and translating that into an immersive building experience.” He noted that working on such a large and intricate structure posed a unique challenge for the team.

The LEGO Architecture ‘Sagrada Família’ set (21065) will be available for pre-order starting June 4, 2026, and will officially launch worldwide on November 1, 2026. The price is set at £649.99, €749.99, or $799.99, depending on the region, according to LEGO.

With its record-breaking piece count and intricate design, this set stands out as one of the most complex LEGO releases ever, bringing a renowned landmark into brick form like never before.
