HBO and HBO Max have announced significant changes to their 2026 television lineup, confirming both the conclusion of some shows and the renewal of others. The network is making a blend of final-season announcements and early renewals as it continues to refine its streaming and broadcast offerings for the upcoming year.

One of the most notable series concluding is Euphoria. The acclaimed drama officially came to an end after three seasons, with HBO confirming its final episode just as the season three finale aired.

Series creator Sam Levinson discussed the conclusion during an appearance on the New York Times’ Popcast podcast, stating that the narrative had reached its intended conclusion. The show, which featured Zendaya, became one of HBO’s most discussed titles during its run, but its storyline is now officially wrapped up.

While one major series is concluding, several others are being renewed for new seasons. A standout renewal is Harry Potter, which has already been confirmed for a second season ahead of its first season premiere in December 2026.

The series is expected to closely follow the book franchise, with each season adapting one novel. Season one will focus on Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone, while season two will adapt Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. This renewal indicates strong confidence in the long-term vision for the series.

Another renewed title is Rooster, featuring Steve Carell. The show has been confirmed for a second season, and its initial 10-episode season is currently available for streaming. The series remains a key part of HBO’s expanding comedy lineup.

The unscripted A24 collaboration Neighbors has also been renewed for a second season. This series delves into real-life disputes between neighbors across the United States, highlighting unusual and often dramatic conflicts. The production involved extensive filming nationwide, capturing authentic stories and transforming them into episodic television.

The corporate drama Industry has been renewed for a fifth season, but it has also been confirmed that this will be its final season. The creators stated, “For some time now we have been thinking about how best to end the show on an unparalleled high. Unlike some of our characters, we know when to leave a party.” The series has received widespread acclaim for its incisive portrayal of the finance world, and its conclusion will wrap up a long-standing narrative on HBO.

The late-night comedy series It’s Florida, Man is also set to return for a third season. The show maintains its format of recreating bizarre and viral real-life stories from Florida, blending humor with documentary-style storytelling.

The medical drama The Pitt has been renewed for a third season following a positive audience response. The series recently concluded its second season and continues to build on its success as a flagship drama for the platform.

HBO’s long-running talk show Real Time with Bill Maher has also been renewed for additional seasons, extending its run through 2028. The live weekly program continues to address political and cultural topics with Maher’s distinctive commentary style.

Lastly, the comedy series Hacks is confirmed to conclude in 2026 with its fifth season. The show’s final chapter aired its latest episode in May, bringing the story of Deborah Vance and Ava to a close after a critically acclaimed run.

This mix of renewals and cancellations illustrates HBO and HBO Max’s ongoing effort to balance long-standing hits with new projects as they gear up for a busy 2026.
