The merchandise frenzy has officially begun. Funko Pop figures related to ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ are now available for preorder across various retail sites, with the initial wave launching through collectible retailer 1001 Hobbies ahead of a November release. This lineup features characters such as Doctor Doom, Thor, Mr. Fantastic, Magneto, Cyclops, Gambit, Shang-Chi, Namor, and Yelena Belova, sparking excitement among fans who are analyzing each name on the list.

Marvel Studios is strategically placing Robert Downey Jr. and Doctor Doom at the forefront of the film’s marketing and merchandise efforts. This deliberate choice makes the villain’s prominent position in the first Funko wave particularly noteworthy. Downey is returning to the franchise not as Tony Stark but as Victor von Doom, marking his return to the MCU as its main antagonist. This casting decision has generated significant buzz, and the toys further emphasize the importance of his role.

The Funko lineup is particularly intriguing as it hints at the film’s broader narrative. Characters like Cyclops and Magneto indicate the X-Men’s direct involvement in the multiversal conflict, while Namor and Shang-Chi suggest that the wider MCU roster will play significant roles rather than merely appearing as background characters. Gambit’s inclusion is already generating its own excitement, as fans have long awaited a proper big-screen portrayal of the character.

The film unites the Avengers, Wakandans, Fantastic Four, and even the original X-Men as they come together to confront Doctor Doom. The Funko wave serves almost as a teaser checklist of key players in this epic showdown. These figures are set to arrive in November, just a month before the film’s theatrical release on December 18.

The Russo Brothers, during their appearance at SXSW London, described the project as a complete creative reset, aiming for audiences to feel that the story does not rely on past narratives. This ambition makes the character roster even more captivating, as each name chosen for merchandise signifies a character worth knowing before entering the theater. Joe Russo expressed it plainly, stating, “We’re back to phase zero.”

For collectors, the opening of the preorder window means ample time to secure figures ahead of the film’s release. For everyone else, the character list itself is quietly generating excitement, building anticipation one vinyl figure at a time as December approaches.
