Marvel has been hinting at Mark Ruffalo’s Bruce Banner making a return to the big screen for months, and the latest toy leaks are providing a clearer picture of how that storyline unfolds. ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has quickly become one of the most merchandise-leaked films in recent MCU history, with Hasbro, Funko, LEGO, and now Monogram unveiling character lineups that offer a surprisingly detailed glimpse into the film’s plot ahead of its release.

The newest wave of reveals focuses on Monogram’s collectible bag clips, which have a reputation for serving as a reliable source of storytelling insights. These small, mass-market items have a history of subtly confirming what major blockbusters often prefer to keep under wraps until their premiere, and this collection is no exception.

What stands out in the new Monogram lineup is the appearance of Smart Hulk in casual clothing, alongside the previously established Savage Hulk. The bag clips imply that Banner will transition into Smart Hulk, either prior to or following his rampage, suggesting a narrative arc where he begins the film in his intelligent merged form before reverting to a more uncontrolled state. The rest of the lineup features Scorpion, Boomerang, Tarantula, Tombstone, and a figure labeled as Red Ninja, along with various Spider-Man variants.

This isn’t the first instance where merchandise has hinted at the transition from Smart to Savage Hulk. The initial trailer for ‘Brand New Day’ depicted Banner in human form, with Smart Hulk restrained by the Hulk Inhibitor Device on his wrist, a piece of technology first introduced in the Disney series ‘She-Hulk: Attorney at Law’. It’s widely anticipated that this device will malfunction during the film, leading to the return of the original, more aggressive version of the Hulk.

Leaked plot details have already suggested a confrontation between Spider-Man and the angrier, classic version of the Hulk. Additionally, fan speculation surrounding a moment in the trailer, where Spidey seems to be propelled skyward by his own webs, hints that this scene may show him trying to restrain a leaping Hulk. The Monogram clips, featuring Smart Hulk in casual attire rather than combat gear, support the idea that Banner starts the film as a helpful ally before the inhibitor fails.

Beyond the Hulk storyline, the bag clip lineup also emphasizes the extensive roster of villains. According to the film’s official synopsis, four years have passed since the events of ‘No Way Home’, and Peter Parker is now living in solitude after erasing himself from the memories of his loved ones. As the pressures on him mount, he faces an unexpected physical transformation that threatens his existence amid a surge of crime across New York.

Michael Mando is confirmed to reprise his role as Mac Gargan, also known as Scorpion, first teased in the mid-credits scene of ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, while Marvin Jones III portrays Tombstone, marking the villain’s live-action MCU debut. The inclusion of Boomerang and Tarantula in the Monogram set, along with Red Ninja, indicates that the film is embracing a genuinely expansive street-level threat landscape rather than focusing on a single central antagonist.

The film’s cast features Tom Holland as Peter Parker, Zendaya as MJ, Jacob Batalon as Ned Leeds, Jon Bernthal as Frank Castle, and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova in an anticipated cameo. Director Destin Daniel Cretton, during CinemaCon, described the production as a daily exploration of “how to create an event, an emotional story, and a ride that we haven’t really seen before.”

‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is set to hit theaters on July 31, and based on the toy leaks alone, it has a lot to live up to.
