Disney has unveiled the official trailer for Descendants: Wicked Wonderland, giving fans an exciting first look at the next chapter in this beloved fantasy franchise. Here’s what we know so far about the upcoming film.

This movie marks the fifth installment in the Descendants series, continuing the narrative that began with Descendants: The Rise of Red (2024). Directed by Kimmy Gatewood and penned by Tamara Chestna, Dan Frey, and Ru Sommer, the film is produced by Disney Channel and is set to premiere in summer 2026 on both Disney Channel and Disney+.

According to Disney’s official announcement, the story resumes after the events of the previous film, following Red and Chloe as they navigate life after their time-traveling escapade. However, their return is soon disrupted as they become embroiled in a new conflict linked to Wonderland and the ramifications of altering time.

The official synopsis reveals that a new villain seeks to exploit the magic of Wonderland during the Kingdom Cup Games. As the stakes rise, Red and Chloe must unite once more to safeguard Wonderland and thwart a threat that could alter everything they know. The narrative continues to delve into the theme that changing the past comes with significant consequences.

The cast features several familiar faces. Kylie Cantrall reprises her role as Red, the daughter of the Queen of Hearts, while Malia Baker returns as Chloe Charming, daughter of Cinderella and King Charming. Leonardo Nam is also back as Maddox Hatter. Rita Ora, Brandy, and Melanie Paxson return as the Queen of Hearts, Cinderella, and Fairy Godmother.

New characters are set to join the adventure. Liamani Segura portrays Pink, Red’s younger sister, while Brendon Tremblay takes on the role of Max Hatter. Additional newcomers include Alexandro Byrd, Kiara Romero, Joel Oulette, and Zavien Garrett, each playing the offspring of iconic fairy tale characters. Awkwafina also lends her voice to a new character named Cheesy.

Filming took place in Canada at The Bridge Studios in Vancouver, starting in April 2025 and concluding in May 2025. The project is produced by Suzanne Todd Productions, Potato Monkey Productions, GWave Productions, and Disney Branded Television.

Following the release of The Rise of Red, producers hinted that the story could continue. Suzanne Todd previously mentioned that the ending left room for further narratives, especially regarding the theme of time travel and its repercussions. The new film was officially greenlit in early 2025, confirming the franchise’s continuation.

The newly released trailer showcases a blend of fantasy, adventure, and darker themes compared to earlier films. It highlights the return of beloved characters while teasing new conflicts in Wonderland. The teaser has already begun to generate excitement among fans eagerly awaiting the 2026 release.
