‘3 Body Problem’ Season 3 Production Update as Netflix Sci-Fi Series Progresses
Production on Netflix’s sci-fi sensation ‘3 Body Problem’ is back in action, with new behind-the-scenes images revealing that filming for Season 3 is currently underway. As reported by What’s on Netflix, cast members Marlo Kelly and Jess Hong were seen shooting intense scenes at Camber Sands beach in East Sussex, England.
These photos provide an early look at the next chapter of the series, which is being crafted by David Benioff, D.B. Weiss, and Alexander Woo. The show adapts Liu Cixin’s ‘Remembrance of Earth’s Past’ novels and continues to build toward its climactic conclusion.
The new images showcase a striking contrast between the two main characters featured in the shoot. Jess Hong, portraying physicist Jin Cheng, is dressed in worn, mud-stained attire that hints at a historical or survival context. Reports suggest she may once again be involved in the series’ virtual reality “game” sequences, which have been pivotal in previous seasons.
Marlo Kelly, who plays Tatiana Haas, is depicted in a more contemporary and tactical outfit. She is seen in black clothing and boots, appearing injured in some shots with visible damage to her arm. According to Click Media and News, this could imply that her storyline continues to intertwine both the real world and the game world, where the stakes seem to be escalating.
The beach filming is noteworthy as it is not the primary production base for the current seasons. Season 1 of ‘3 Body Problem’ was mainly filmed in the United Kingdom, but production has since relocated to Budapest, Hungary. This location now serves as the central hub for Seasons 2 and 3, utilizing large-scale studio space and international filming infrastructure for the sci-fi series.
The report indicates that the UK shoot appears to be a smaller, specific segment of filming rather than the main location for the season. It suggests that most of the larger storylines, particularly those involving global or space-based events, are being managed in Hungary.
While Netflix has yet to unveil official plot details for Season 3, the new images imply that the narrative will continue to blend reality with virtual environments, a major theme throughout the series. The contrast between Jin Cheng’s survival-style appearance and Tatiana Haas’s more militarized look hints at separate yet potentially intersecting story arcs.
Created by the showrunners of ‘Game of Thrones’, the series has been steadily progressing toward the conclusion of its adaptation. The production team has previously confirmed that the story will be completed across the planned seasons, with filming structured to align with the full narrative arc of the books.

According to earlier reports referenced in the same coverage, production on the final seasons is proceeding on schedule, with additional filming anticipated in Hungary. New cast members are also expected to join the expanding storyline as the scope of the conflict intensifies.
For now, the Camber Sands shoot provides one of the first real glimpses of Season 3 in motion, confirming that the series is actively progressing toward its conclusion while keeping much of its story closely guarded.
