‘The Pitt’ Season 3 Release Date and Major Change to Javadi’s Story
Victoria Javadi is set to embark on a new journey when ‘The Pitt’ returns for its third season. Although fans will have to wait until 2027 for the next installment of the hit medical drama, recent updates indicate that one of the show’s most beloved young characters will be transitioning away from the emergency room.
This news comes from actress Shabana Azeez, who portrays Victoria Javadi on the HBO Max series. In a recent interview with Bustle, Azeez disclosed that her character’s training will lead her into a completely different department during Season 3.
“I can say that I’m not in the ER this season. I’ve done my ER rotation, so I’m doing my psychiatry rotation,” Azeez shared with the publication.
The actress expressed her excitement and apprehension about the upcoming storyline, noting how distinct it feels compared to what viewers have previously experienced.
“It’s a very different vibe for me,” she said. “And I’m scared and nervous. But it’s an honor to be able to show that part of medicine.”
This shift isn’t unexpected for fans who have followed Javadi’s development throughout the first two seasons. Introduced in Season 1, she was a skilled yet anxious medical student striving to establish her place in a bustling emergency department. Despite her intelligence, she often battled self-doubt and the pressures stemming from her family’s legacy.
Victoria is not just any medical student; her mother, Dr. Eileen Shamsi, is a renowned surgeon and professor at the same hospital. Season 2 also revealed that her father, Raymond Javadi, is a professor of internal medicine there. Having both parents in the hospital created additional expectations for her from the start.

Over time, however, Javadi evolved into one of the most competent young doctors in training. She gained confidence, trusted her instincts, and navigated challenging situations with growing maturity. Her development was particularly evident in Season 2, where she took on greater responsibilities and even assisted in a complex neurosurgery case.
A significant hint about her future appeared near the end of Season 2. Throughout the season, Javadi developed a keen interest in mental health and the challenges faced by both patients and healthcare professionals. In one pivotal conversation, she acknowledged that her experiences in the emergency department had led her to seriously consider the importance of psychological care.
“The more time I spend here, the more I realize the importance of mental health — for patients and for us,” she remarked earlier in the season.
Later, she approached Dr. Michael “Robby” Robinavitch, played by Noah Wyle, to inquire whether emergency psychiatry might be a suitable path for her. Robby encouraged her and assured her that she was capable of excelling in any field she chose.
The series timeline also supports this transition. According to show details, Season 3 will unfold just a few months after the events of Season 2. This means Javadi will still be a medical student, but she will now be gaining experience in a different setting.
While she may not be in the emergency room, fans need not worry about seeing less of her character. Based on Azeez’s comments to Bustle, psychiatry is poised to play a significant role in her storyline moving forward. This new rotation could also provide viewers with a fresh perspective on another vital aspect of medicine while continuing to showcase Javadi’s personal and professional growth.
For now, all eyes are on Season 3 and how this next chapter will influence one of ‘The Pitt’s’ most promising characters.
