Manny Jacinto Discusses Qimir’s Potential Return to ‘Star Wars The Acolyte’
Manny Jacinto has addressed the possibility of reprising his role as Qimir in Star Wars: The Acolyte, particularly if there are changes in leadership at Lucasfilm under Dave Filoni.
Jacinto portrayed Qimir, also known as “The Stranger,” in the Disney+ series The Acolyte. The character quickly became a fan favorite, despite the series being canceled after just one season. Interest in Qimir remains high among fans who are eager to see him return.
During a recent convention panel, Jacinto was asked how he would respond if Lucasfilm president Dave Filoni reached out about bringing him back. He expressed enthusiasm, stating, “Oh, yeah.” However, he emphasized that the character was a collaborative creation, not solely his own.
Jacinto noted that Qimir was developed with input from many individuals, including writers, costume designers, and the creative team behind the series. He remarked, “I mean, there is no Stranger without Leslye Headland. Again, it’s the people that helped build this character — it’s not just me.” He expressed a willingness to work with the same creative team again if the opportunity arises.
His comments highlight the significance of the original creators of The Acolyte in shaping the character’s identity. Leslye Headland, the series creator, played a crucial role in developing Qimir and the darker narrative surrounding him. Jacinto’s remarks also suggest that any potential return would depend on the direction of future Star Wars projects and the involvement of the original creative team.

The Acolyte was set during the High Republic era, centuries before the events of The Phantom Menace. The series followed a former Jedi Padawan named Osha, played by Amandla Stenberg, who becomes embroiled in a series of mysterious murders linked to her past. The show delved into the early emergence of dark side forces, including the introduction of Qimir and hints about his ties to powerful Sith figures.
Although the series garnered positive attention from both fans and critics, it was ultimately canceled after its first season. This left many plotlines unresolved, including Qimir’s full backstory and his connection to broader Sith lore. Fans have continued to speculate about the possibility of the character returning in another Star Wars project.
Jacinto’s recent statements have only fueled that conversation. While he did not confirm any official plans, his willingness to return has given fans renewed hope that Qimir’s story is not entirely over. As of now, there has been no announcement from Lucasfilm regarding the revival of the character or the continuation of The Acolyte in any capacity.
This discussion comes at a time when Star Wars is expanding across both film and television, with multiple projects in the pipeline. Whether Qimir will make another appearance will likely depend on how Lucasfilm chooses to build upon the era introduced in The Acolyte.
