‘Only Murders in the Building’ Season 6 Casts Exciting British Talent

Few American shows have consistently attracted A-list guest stars like ‘Only Murders in the Building’. Since its debut on Hulu, this comedy-mystery has welcomed a host of prestigious names, including Meryl Streep and Christoph Waltz. For its sixth season, the series is taking a bold step by sending its trio of amateur detectives across the Atlantic to London, and it seems the show is set to make a grand entrance.

Filming is currently underway in the UK, marking the first time the series has ventured overseas. The casting announcements have been coming in quickly. The crime-solving trio of Steve Martin, Martin Short, and Selena Gomez will reprise their roles as Charles, Oliver, and Mabel, as they continue their investigation into the death of Cinda Canning, a storyline left open by the Season 5 finale. Da’Vine Joy Randolph has also been spotted in social media posts from the set, although her return has not yet been officially confirmed.

According to an exclusive report by Variety, eight additional recurring guest stars have been announced, featuring a lineup of acclaimed British and Irish talent. Joining the season are Martin Freeman, Geri Halliwell-Horner, Jamie Demetriou, Anjana Vasan, Jane Horrocks, Derek Jacobi, and Lesley Nicol, creating an ensemble that includes stars from beloved British sitcoms, Oscar-winning films, and globally recognized pop culture. As is typical for the show, specific character details for the new cast members are being kept under wraps.

These additions follow a wave of casting news released just a day earlier. Disney confirmed that Jennifer Saunders, Sean Teale, Simone Ashley, Amar Chadha-Patel, Rhea Norwood, Matthew Beard, and Sharon Horgan have also been cast in recurring guest roles for the season.

The show has a history of utilizing its guest stars as integral parts of the narrative rather than mere background characters, making the inclusion of the star of ‘Bridgerton’, the creator of ‘Bad Sisters’, and the icon behind ‘Absolutely Fabulous’ genuinely thrilling.

Returning star Michael Cyril Creighton is also back, and ‘Only Murders in the Building’ is created by co-creators and writers Steve Martin and John Hoffman, who serve as executive producers alongside Martin Short, Selena Gomez, Dan Fogelman, and Jess Rosenthal, among others.

20th Television is the studio behind the production. If the season maintains its current production schedule, a late 2026 release window is anticipated, although no premiere date has been confirmed yet.

With a cast that spans generations of British entertainment, from Derek Jacobi’s theatrical legacy to Jamie Demetriou’s cult comedy fame, the show seems poised to make its London chapter its most ambitious yet.

Fans are left wondering whether the trio can solve a British mystery as cleverly as they did in the Arconia, a question that will spark discussions until the first trailer is released.
