Glen Powell and Adria Arjona’s ‘Hit Man’ Movie Is Becoming a Netflix Series
Netflix is advancing its plans to adapt the film Hit Man into a television series. This project is based on the 2024 movie from AGC Studios, featuring Glen Powell and co-written and produced by Richard Linklater. The original film garnered attention upon its release and subsequently attracted a larger audience on Netflix.
According to Deadline, the streaming service is currently developing the series adaptation. Glen Powell and Richard Linklater are both set to serve as executive producers if the series moves forward. The script is being penned by Stephen Falk, known for creating the FX series You’re the Worst.
The production team includes AGC Television alongside Powell’s own BarnStorm Productions. Several producers are involved in executive and co-executive roles, including Stuart Ford, Miguel A. Palos Jr., and Lourdes Diaz from AGC. Additional co-executive producers include Steve Barnett, Alan Powell, Vicky Patel, Shivani Rawat, and Julie Goldstein.
Netflix has not officially commented on the series development. While plot details remain under wraps, the show is anticipated to follow the general premise of the original film.
The movie Hit Man revolves around a police contractor who employs an unconventional method. He poses as a fake hitman to ensnare individuals attempting to hire someone for murder. The character utilizes disguises and various identities as part of his undercover operations, a concept expected to remain central to the series adaptation.

The original movie had a notable festival run before its Netflix release. It premiered at the Venice Film Festival and was later screened at the Toronto Film Festival. Following this, Netflix acquired distribution rights in several regions, including the United States and the United Kingdom, in a deal reportedly worth around 20 million dollars.
Upon its release on Netflix in June 2024, the film received favorable reviews from both critics and audiences. It also garnered award nominations, including a Golden Globe nod for Glen Powell and a Writers Guild of America nomination for both Powell and Linklater.
This new series project aligns with Netflix’s recent trend of transforming successful films into television series. The platform has previously expanded other titles, crafting longer narratives from popular movies with established audiences.
Stephen Falk, the series writer, is recognized for creating You’re the Worst and has contributed to shows like Orange Is the New Black, Weeds, and Hello Tomorrow!. His involvement suggests that the series may blend comedy, drama, and sharp character storytelling.
Currently, the Hit Man series is in early development, with no release date announced yet.
