‘Supergirl’ Star Milly Alcock Reveals Her Favorite Spider-Man and Fans React
Milly Alcock is just weeks away from her highly anticipated big-screen debut as Kara Zor-El, and she isn’t shy about sharing her superhero preferences.
During a recent episode of Big Bro with Kid Cudi, Alcock was asked to rank her favorite actors portraying DC and Marvel superheroes and villains in live-action. Her responses were honest, at times diplomatic, and one in particular was a delightful surprise for Andrew Garfield fans.
When the topic of Spider-Man arose, Kid Cudi chose Tobey Maguire, reflecting on his generation, but Alcock quickly opted for Andrew Garfield without a moment’s hesitation.
This choice has sparked considerable buzz on social media, especially as Alcock prepares to become one of the most prominent superhero actors in the industry. Her endorsement of Garfield as the top Spider-Man carries significant weight at this moment.
The rapid-fire segment showcased Alcock’s strong opinions on some of the most iconic superhero performances ever captured on film. Her list of favorites also includes Christian Bale as Batman, Heath Ledger as Joker, Michelle Pfeiffer as Catwoman, and Mark Ruffalo as Hulk.
When asked about Superman, Alcock predictably named her on-screen cousin David Corenswet. She humorously remarked, “I can’t say otherwise, I think I would be out of a job,” before expressing genuine admiration: “He just is Superman. I met him and I was like, ‘Oh, you’re the guy.'”
Garfield’s lasting popularity among fans and now fellow superhero actors highlights how much ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ films have been reevaluated over time. The actor has expressed interest in returning to the role, but insists it would need to be something “very weird” and “offbeat and surprising” to be worthwhile. Fans have grown increasingly skeptical of Garfield’s claims about future Marvel appearances, especially after he famously denied returning for ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ right up until its release.
‘Supergirl’, directed by Craig Gillespie and penned by Ana Nogueira, is the second film in James Gunn’s DC Universe, set to hit theaters on June 26, 2026, with a reported budget of $170 million. Alcock’s portrayal of Kara is marked by themes of survivor’s guilt and trauma, diverging from a traditional superhero origin. Nogueira noted that Alcock won the role by moving the audition panel to tears during her performance.
Despite the film facing challenges due to the troubled legacy of the 1984 original, Alcock is already confirmed to reprise her role as Kara Zor-El in ‘Man of Tomorrow’, James Gunn’s 2027 sequel to ‘Superman’, where she will confront Lars Eidinger’s Brainiac alongside Nicholas Hoult’s Lex Luthor and Aaron Pierre’s Green Lantern.
Regardless of how the box office performs later this month, Alcock is already establishing her place in the superhero discourse, confidently sharing her favorites and defending them with the assurance of someone who has clearly done her research.
