Sofía Vergara Faces Tough Choice on Who to Bring to the World Cup
Sofía Vergara is gearing up for an exciting and emotional World Cup season, planning to attend several matches and spend quality time with her family throughout the tournament.
The actress has confirmed her attendance at significant games, including the first U.S.-hosted match in Los Angeles on June 12 and the final near New York on July 19. She also hopes to catch a few other matches in between, but juggling tickets for her large family has already proven to be a challenge.
Vergara shared her dilemma about deciding who gets to accompany her, stating: “It’s been kind of like a little bit of a struggle to pick who deserves to go to the World Cup, but it’s all been fun!”
For her, the World Cup transcends football; it’s also about family bonding. Watching the matches together means sharing food, engaging in conversation, and experiencing a whirlwind of emotions. She described it as a blend of joy and chaos, with everyone gathering to enjoy the games.
Born in Barranquilla, Colombia, Vergara is particularly eager to cheer for her home country during the tournament. She has consistently expressed her pride in Colombia and often uses significant events like the World Cup to unite her family.
In addition to attending games, Vergara mentioned that she has been in contact with singer Shakira, who is set to perform at the World Cup Final Halftime Show. The two Colombian icons recently exchanged messages.
Vergara said: “I don’t even want to name-drop, but she texted me yesterday. She asked me if I was going to be in L.A. for the games. And so I’m very excited because I’m sure she’s going to give a hell of a show like she always does. And she’s very excited to do it. It’s going to be amazing. For sure I’m going to watch her.”
She also emphasized that her plans for watching matches at home are just as significant as attending in person. When she enjoys games at home, she prefers a laid-back atmosphere centered around food, music, and family. These gatherings often turn into lively and emotional experiences.
Vergara described her home match days by saying: “When you’re together, that’s when you really get to enjoy each other and eat, and fight, and complain and it’s fun.”
Alongside football, Vergara uses family gatherings as a platform to discuss health awareness. She has been involved in campaigns that encourage people to pay attention to health issues like high blood pressure and diabetes, which have impacted her own family.
She referenced her “Detect the SOS” campaign, explaining that she hopes conversations sparked during shared TV moments can lead to greater health awareness. She believes that integrating health messages into everyday entertainment can motivate people to ask questions and take action.
Vergara acknowledged that discussing health with relatives can be challenging, but shared experiences like watching sports or TV can create opportunities for dialogue. She hopes that even casual discussions during the World Cup can help families recognize the importance of medical checks and early detection.
With matches, travel, family gatherings, and celebrity performances on the horizon, Vergara is simply looking forward to the vibrant atmosphere. She described the upcoming month as a unique opportunity for people to come together, celebrate, and enjoy a global event.
As she put it, the World Cup is more than just a sporting event; it is a moment that unites families, friends, and entire nations in a shared experience.
