DC Studios is advancing with its new DC Universe reboot, prominently featuring Batman. One of the upcoming projects, ‘The Brave and the Bold’, aims to introduce a fresh iteration of the Dark Knight along with his extended “Bat-family,” which may include characters like Robin and Nightwing as the shared universe unfolds.

This information was highlighted by ComicBook, which conducted a recent interview with ‘House of the Dragon’ actor Harry Collett. During the conversation, Collett was asked about fans suggesting him for the role of Nightwing in the DCU.

Collett acknowledged the online fan casting but admitted he is not yet well-versed in the character. He shared that many have been reaching out to him, expressing their belief that he would be a great fit for Dick Grayson, the character who evolves into Nightwing in DC comics.

He stated, “people have been DMing me saying … I mean, I’m not familiar with the character yet … with Nightwing in DC.”

After learning more about Nightwing and the concept, Collett responded positively. When it was suggested that he could suit the role, he expressed enthusiasm about potentially being part of the DC Universe under James Gunn’s leadership.

He simply replied, “James Gunn, please.” Nightwing is a crucial ally of Batman in the comics, originally known as Robin, Dick Grayson, who matures into his own hero in Blüdhaven. The character has had various live-action portrayals over the years, but he has not been a significant figure in recent major Batman films.

The latest live-action depiction of Nightwing was in the ‘Titans’ series, where Brenton Thwaites took on the role. Previous film adaptations of Robin appeared in ‘Batman Forever’ and ‘Batman & Robin’, featuring Chris O’Donnell as an older version of the character.

Currently, the DC Universe has not officially cast Batman for its reboot. However, DC Studios co-CEO James Gunn has confirmed that Batman-related characters will be integral from the outset. ‘The Brave and the Bold’ is expected to center on Damian Wayne, Batman’s son, as Robin, indicating that other versions of Robin and Nightwing may already exist within the timeline.

This setup allows for Dick Grayson to potentially be introduced as an adult Nightwing right from the beginning, suggesting that the DCU could present him as a fully developed hero rather than exploring his early days as Robin.

ComicBook reports that Gunn’s DCU is crafting a long-term interconnected universe, with Batman’s world being a significant component of that vision. While no casting decisions have been finalized, the interest in actors like Harry Collett indicates that audiences are already speculating about who might take on these iconic roles.

At this point, Collett has not been officially associated with the role. However, his expressed interest, along with increasing fan support, contributes another name to the ongoing discussion about who will join the new DC Universe as it continues to develop.
