‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ TV Spot Reveals Ramrod’s MCU Debut with Comic Book Reference
A new TV spot for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has subtly confirmed an unexpected addition to Spider-Man’s rogues gallery. Footage shared by @zomikpizzatime showcases what seems to be Ramrod in live-action for the first time in MCU history. The brief clip has already sparked comparisons to the classic comic book cover it appears to recreate, generating excitement among the most dedicated Spider-Man fans.
The footage features Peter Parker facing off against the half-cyborg villain in what looks like a street-level sequence. Currently, no actor has been confirmed for the role of Ramrod in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day.’
Ramrod first appeared in Marvel Comics in 1973 in ‘Daredevil,’ originally portrayed as a construction worker severely injured in an accident. He was transformed into a half-man, half-cyborg by villains Kerwin Broderick and Moondragon, forced to commit crimes under duress. His inclusion is particularly satisfying for longtime fans due to his lesser-known status.
Earlier reports suggested that the film would open with a montage featuring Peter battling a series of obscure villains, including Boomerang, Tarantula, and Ramrod. This sequence is designed to bridge the gap between the conclusion of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’ and the present, showcasing how Peter’s suit evolves with each encounter. The TV spot footage strongly indicates that this sequence has made it into the final cut.
Despite the film’s first official trailer revealing a crowded villain lineup, reports have hinted that ‘Brand New Day’ still holds additional antagonists, including the Enforcers, 8 Ball, Tombstone, and Ramrod. This suggests that the final film will feature a broader scope of street-level chaos than what has been shown in marketing.
The choice to include Ramrod is validated by his obscurity. Peter Parker will clearly face a diverse array of enemies throughout the film, and the inclusion of this deep-cut cyborg villain reinforces the film’s commitment to the grounded, street-level sensibility that has always defined the best Spider-Man stories.
The confirmed villain roster already includes Michael Mando’s long-awaited return as Scorpion, Jon Bernthal as The Punisher, Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk in a supporting role, and Sadie Ink in a part that has stirred considerable speculation. With Ramrod now seemingly in the mix, ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ is shaping up to be one of the most densely packed entries in the wall-crawler’s cinematic history. The film is set to hit theaters on July 31.
