Brendan Fraser is fully embracing his role as Rick O’Connell once again. The Oscar-winning actor was recently seen at the Ramses and the Pharaohs’ Gold exhibition in London, where he humorously noted that no ancient curses were unintentionally unleashed during his visit.

Fraser and Rachel Weisz are set to reprise their iconic roles as adventurer Rick O’Connell and Egyptologist Evelyn O’Connell in the upcoming film, directed by Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett of Radio Silence, with a script penned by David Coggeshall. John Hannah, who has appeared in all three previous films, will also return as Jonathan Carnahan, reuniting the beloved trio from the first two installments.

Production is slated to begin in August, following pre-production that started in May. The Radio Silence team, known for their recent work on the ‘Scream’ series, has indicated that ‘The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor’ will not be considered part of the canon, effectively continuing the story from where ‘The Mummy Returns’ concluded.

The film’s release date has been moved up from May 2028 to October 15, 2027, with Universal shifting ‘Miami Vice ’85’ to occupy the original date. Details about the plot remain tightly under wraps.

Fraser has been open about the physical challenges of stepping back into an action-hero role at the age of 57. During an appearance on ‘The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon,’ he humorously asked for luck as he prepares to get back into shape, mentioning that the production intends to film on real locations, reminiscent of the originals. His comments were met with warmth and humor, reflecting Fraser’s charming public persona.

The franchise has amassed over $1.8 billion globally during its theatrical run, and original producer Sean Daniel will also be back for this new installment, joined by a team from Project X Entertainment. Fraser is also taking on the role of executive producer for the film, highlighting his personal investment in ensuring this project is a success.

With Fraser visiting London’s ancient Egyptian treasures, training in progress, and filming set to commence soon, excitement builds for one of cinema’s most awaited adventure revivals.
