Michael Fassbender’s Spy Thriller ‘The Agency’ Season 2 Achieves 100% on Rotten Tomatoes
Michael Fassbender’s spy thriller ‘The Agency’ has returned for its second season, and the new episodes are already receiving positive feedback from critics. The Paramount+ series made its comeback after concluding its first season in January 2025, with Fassbender reprising his role as Brandon Colby, also known as Martian.
Season 2 premiered with all 10 episodes available for streaming on Paramount+, allowing fans to follow Martian’s perilous journey through the world of international espionage. Shortly after the release, critics began sharing their reviews, and the series has made an impressive debut on Rotten Tomatoes.
Currently, ‘The Agency’ season 2 boasts a 100% Tomatometer score on Rotten Tomatoes. However, this score is based on just five critic reviews so far, meaning the rating could fluctuate as more reviews come in over the next few days and weeks.

Despite the limited number of reviews, early reactions indicate that critics are impressed with the show’s second season. Many have lauded Fassbender’s performance, the more focused storytelling, and the series’ ability to maintain its tense spy atmosphere.
Ryan Britt from Inverse provided a positive review, commending the series for steering clear of common pitfalls in spy thrillers. He noted that “The Agency continues to channel the John le Carré spirit, with modern binge-worthy propulsion.”
Giovanni Lago from Next Best Picture also praised the new season, awarding it an 8/10 score. Lago remarked that creators Jez and John-Henry Butterworth effectively built on the strengths of the first season without unnecessary alterations, resulting in a stronger overall series.
Critic Kaiya Shunyata from RogerEbert.com highlighted the season’s final episodes, stating that the story reaches an impressive conclusion. She praised how the various storylines converge and described the ending as a powerful continuation of the show.
Screen Rant critic Felipe Rangel awarded the season a perfect 10/10 score, focusing on Fassbender’s performance. Rangel described the actor’s work as an “acting masterclass” and commended the depth and complexity he brings to Martian.
However, not every review was entirely positive. Andrew Murray from The Upcoming rated the season 3/5 stars, noting that while the focus on the main story was an improvement, pacing issues persisted for some viewers.
The second season of ‘The Agency’ follows the show’s renewal by Paramount+ in December 2024. The series officially returned on June 21, 2026, as a Paramount+ Original, continuing the narrative of a CIA agent balancing his perilous career with personal challenges.
Fassbender’s portrayal of Martian remains one of the series’ standout features. The actor has garnered acclaim for embodying a character who is intelligent, complex, and constantly under pressure. As more reviews come in, ‘The Agency’ season 2’s Rotten Tomatoes score may evolve, but the early response indicates that the spy drama has made a strong return.
