The long-standing debate about who would triumph in a battle between Supergirl and Superman has found an answer, at least from the perspective of the actress portraying Kara Zor-El. Milly Alcock shared her insights on this hypothetical Kryptonian clash while attending the world premiere of ‘Supergirl’ in Brooklyn.

Arriving at the event ahead of the film’s theatrical debut, Alcock was asked about a potential showdown between her character and David Corenswet’s Superman. According to Variety, Alcock confidently chose Supergirl as the victor in this imagined fight.

Alcock stated that Supergirl is “objectively stronger” than Superman, which gives Kara the upper hand in a direct confrontation. She added a humorous twist, suggesting that Superman might not even try to defeat her and would simply “let me win.”

This playful remark aligns with the dynamic between the two characters in the new DC Universe. While both heroes share Kryptonian origins, their personalities and experiences differ significantly. Superman is typically portrayed as calm and optimistic, whereas Kara’s version in the upcoming film is expected to have a much edgier demeanor.

Director Craig Gillespie has previously discussed the bond between the two cousins, describing their relationship as a family-like rivalry. In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gillespie noted that they possess “this almost older-sibling dynamic and that can be adversarial.” He elaborated that Superman is more patient and gentle, while Kara is still navigating her identity.

The forthcoming ‘Supergirl’ film will showcase a different aspect of Kara Zor-El compared to earlier portrayals. The narrative follows Kara as she journeys through space while grappling with feelings of anger, revenge, and personal challenges. James Gunn has characterized this version of Supergirl as having a strong attitude, stepping away from the conventional image of a flawless superhero.

Alcock is stepping into the new DC Universe as one of its pivotal characters, following David Corenswet’s introduction as Superman. The two actors will share the screen, providing fans with their first glimpse of how the new franchise will portray the relationship between Earth’s two most iconic Kryptonians.

Preparing for her role demanded rigorous training from Alcock. She revealed that she learned several alien languages for the film and dedicated time to physically prepare for the demanding action sequences. Her interpretation of Kara is expected to be more intense and unpredictable than audiences might anticipate.

The film also represents another significant milestone in James Gunn and Peter Safran’s vision for the DC Universe. Following ‘Superman,’ which introduced Corenswet’s take on the hero, ‘Supergirl’ expands the universe by focusing on a character who has often lived in Superman’s shadow.

While Alcock is confident that Kara would emerge victorious in a fight, her remarks also emphasize the bond between the two heroes. Their connection transcends mere strength or rivalry; it is rooted in family and the distinct paths they have chosen.

Fans will soon discover if Supergirl truly lives up to Alcock’s assertion when ‘Supergirl’ hits theaters. What are your thoughts? Do you believe Supergirl could actually defeat Superman in a battle? Share your opinions in the comments.
