For years, fans of the original Netflix series ‘Daredevil’ have eagerly anticipated a reunion that seemed out of reach. While the Man Without Fear made his comeback in ‘Born Again’, along with revivals of Punisher, Karen Page, and Foggy Nelson, one key character was noticeably missing.

Elektra Natchios, the lethal assassin and on-again, off-again love interest of Matt Murdock, has been in limbo since her ambiguous fate at the end of ‘The Defenders’. That long wait appears to finally be over.

Currently in production in New York City, ‘Daredevil: Born Again’ Season 3 has set photos circulating online that seemingly confirm Elodie Yung’s return as Elektra, showcasing her with her iconic weapons and a mysterious dark overcoat.

While Marvel Studios has yet to issue an official statement regarding her involvement, the images have ignited excitement among fans, with social media buzzing about her anticipated return.

The timing of this leak is significant for those following the developments of ‘Born Again’. Season 3 set photos have already confirmed that Mike Colter and Finn Jones will reprise their roles as Luke Cage and Danny Rand, respectively, while Krysten Ritter’s Jessica Jones is also set to return after her appearance in Season 2. This means the Defenders are nearly reassembled, with Elektra being the last missing piece.

The last time viewers saw Yung’s Elektra, she was sharing a kiss with Daredevil just before a building collapsed on them during the climax of ‘The Defenders’.

Her body was never found, and the uncertainty surrounding her fate has fueled speculation ever since. Elektra’s complex storyline in the Netflix era, which included her death and resurrection by The Hand, left many fans feeling that her character was underutilized. A return in the MCU’s ‘Born Again’ would offer a genuine second chance for Elektra.

There were unverified rumors earlier suggesting that Yung might be replaced as Elektra for ‘Born Again’, but no concrete details emerged, and those claims never materialized. However, Yung herself has been dropping hints about her potential return.

Earlier this year, she shared workout videos that sparked a wave of speculation among fans, and she acknowledged the excitement with a message saying, “Ooooh You guys really want my Elektra back. I love it.” While she stopped short of confirming anything, her enthusiasm was evident.

On the production side, there have been subtle signals indicating that Elektra is indeed part of the plan. Showrunner Dario Scardapane hinted that both Elektra and Colleen Wing may play a role in Season 3’s storyline, mentioning that the writers’ room has a wish list of characters from iconic comic book runs, with Elektra being one of them. His description of the show as rooted in the Frank Miller tradition—a world filled with assassins, moral complexity, and gritty street-level drama—makes Elektra’s inclusion feel almost unavoidable.

Yung has previously expressed her eagerness to return, stating in an earlier interview, “Oh, absolutely. That was one of the greatest characters that I had to play. We’ll see. If they call me, I will respond for sure. It’s just so much fun.” Her willingness, combined with her open schedule after ‘The Cleaning Lady’, makes it easy to connect the dots.

Production on Season 3 commenced in March, with showrunner Dario Scardapane confirming to Entertainment Weekly that filming is expected to conclude in early July, indicating that the production is currently around its halfway point. This timeline aligns with Yung’s appearance on set, suggesting her role is not merely a cameo but could involve a significant arc in what is shaping up to be the most ambitious chapter of ‘Born Again’ yet.

With The Hand making a return in the ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ trailer and Season 3 already confirmed to bring back multiple Defenders, the question of Elektra’s role in this intricate web of ninja intrigue and street-level chaos is genuinely intriguing. Whether she comes back as an ally, an antagonist, or something more complex—as has always been the case with Matt Murdock—the stage is set for a compelling narrative.
