‘Black Panther 3’ New Details Revealed Marvel’s Next Wakanda Adventure Takes Shape
Marvel Studios’ ‘Black Panther 3’ is still in the early stages of development, but new reports indicate that the next adventure in Wakanda could take the franchise in an exciting new direction. The film is set to focus on the next generation of heroes while delving into the significance of carrying the Black Panther name.
Insider Alex Perez has shared that ‘Black Panther 3’ is currently one of Marvel’s top priorities. Notably, the character previously referred to as T’Challa II will now simply be called T’Challa, as the narrative centers on his journey and future as the new Black Panther.
The anticipated direction of the film is said to revolve around a coming-of-age story. Rather than solely concentrating on battles and global threats, the movie will reportedly explore what it means for a young T’Challa to inherit such a significant title and follow in his father’s footsteps.
Legacy is expected to be a central theme of the sequel. Following the passing of Chadwick Boseman’s T’Challa in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, the Black Panther role has become a symbol of family, tradition, and responsibility. The third film may continue to examine how Wakanda determines who should carry that legacy into the future.
One storyline in development involves Nakia expressing doubts about T’Challa becoming the next Black Panther. According to Perez, there have been discussions regarding Nakia’s concerns about her son inheriting the throne or taking on the dangerous responsibilities that accompany the role.
This conflict could lead to a deeply personal story, with T’Challa needing to prove his readiness while also managing pressure from those closest to him.
The film is also expected to delve deeper into the supernatural aspects of Wakanda. Perez reported that director Ryan Coogler aims to explore more profound connections to the ancestral plane, the spiritual realm that has played a crucial role in ‘Black Panther’ mythology.
Moreover, the movie may introduce additional mutants into the storyline. While the franchise has already brought in Namor, portrayed by Tenoch Huerta, in ‘Black Panther: Wakanda Forever’, new reports suggest that Marvel could incorporate more mutant-related elements as the MCU continues to build towards a larger mutant narrative.

Development on ‘Black Panther 3’ has been progressing for several years. Following the release of ‘Wakanda Forever’ in 2022, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige and Ryan Coogler reportedly began brainstorming ideas for another film. In 2024, reports emerged that Coogler had discussed joining the cast with Denzel Washington, and Marvel later confirmed Washington’s involvement in the film.
Producer Nate Moore, who previously worked on the ‘Black Panther’ films, was also expected to return before departing Marvel Studios to focus on other projects.
Coogler confirmed in 2025 that ‘Black Panther 3’ would be his next film, officially moving the project into development. The movie is currently anticipated to arrive in 2028.
While many details remain under wraps, the reported plans indicate that Marvel is aiming for a different type of ‘Black Panther’ story. Instead of simply replicating past narratives, the studio seems prepared to explore a new era for Wakanda, emphasizing identity, family, and the challenge of becoming a symbol greater than oneself.
