Charlize Theron Shines at ‘The Odyssey’ Photocall in Paris
Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s ancient epic has transformed its promotional rollout into a true global event, with stops in New York, London, and now Paris all within a single week. Each stage of this campaign has brought its own wave of fashion moments, seemingly crafted to outshine the last.
The ensemble cast has embraced this energy at every opportunity, blending mythological themes into their wardrobe choices while still showcasing their personal styles. Few actors on this press circuit have balanced this as effectively as Charlize Theron.
This balancing act was evident when Theron arrived at the Paris leg of the promotional tour, held at Trocadero Square with the Eiffel Tower glowing behind her as the sun set. Instead of opting for anything overtly Greek or goddess-inspired, Theron chose a sharp black blazer paired with satin mini shorts from Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann.
This choice provided an early glimpse of Ackermann’s Spring 2027 vision for the fashion house, perfectly aligning with Theron’s established reputation for commanding tailoring. The satin shorts added a playful edge to her look, making it stand out amidst a sea of more traditional photocall outfits.
In the film, Theron portrays Calypso, the nymph who keeps Matt Damon’s Odysseus on her island for seven years during his arduous journey home. The casting itself underwent some last-minute changes, as earlier reports had suggested Theron would play Circe before Nolan’s team confirmed at CinemaCon that she would instead take on the role of Calypso.
Theron has openly discussed stepping into Nolan’s production well after filming had begun. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter while promoting another project, she admitted feeling like the new kid on the block joining a shoot that had already been in progress for months, even though her time on set would only last a couple of weeks.
During that same conversation, Theron expressed complete trust in Nolan’s process despite her limited time on the project, noting that he is the type of filmmaker who knows exactly what film he is making before anyone else steps onto the set. This level of confidence seems to have paid off, as her scenes have already generated significant attention ahead of the film’s release.
The Paris stop followed Theron’s appearance at the film’s London premiere, where she joined fellow cast members Anne Hathaway and Lupita Nyong’o in another round of press coverage showcasing the trio’s fashion choices. Between the premiere and the photocall, Theron has quickly become one of the most talked-about figures on this particular press tour.
With ‘The Odyssey‘ set to hit theaters on July 17, the Paris appearance marks one of the final major stops before the film reaches audiences. Given the star-studded cast, the mythological themes, and a press tour already generating significant buzz, expectations for the film’s box office performance are only continuing to rise.
