Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron Shine at ‘The Odyssey’ Paris Photocall
Christopher Nolan’s adaptation of Homer’s ancient epic has spent the past week showcasing the extent of a studio’s promotional campaign. What began with press events in New York quickly expanded into a full international circuit, with London and Paris both hosting significant moments for the film in just a few days.
This momentum continued through London’s photocall and premiere before arriving in France, where the cast gathered once more for a fresh round of photos ahead of the film’s release. Each stop along the way has contributed to what has become one of the most fashion-forward rollouts of the summer.
The latest chapter unfolded at Trocadero Square in Paris, where Lupita Nyong’o, Anne Hathaway, Zendaya, and Charlize Theron posed together with the Eiffel Tower as the sun set over the city. The four actresses showcased distinct aesthetics against the same backdrop, transforming the event into one of the standout group moments of the entire press tour.
Hathaway, portraying Penelope in the film, dazzled in a custom navy Prada gown adorned with delicate gold embellishments and Bvlgari jewelry, continuing her maternity-inspired fashion choices since announcing her pregnancy weeks earlier. Theron opted for a different vibe, donning a sharp black blazer paired with satin mini shorts from Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann, offering a sneak peek of the label’s Spring 2027 collection.
Zendaya, who plays the goddess Athena, arrived in a striking structural white Givenchy Haute Couture ensemble designed by Alexander McQueen, complemented by an elaborate gold lace headpiece by Philip Treacy styled by Law Roach. Nyong’o completed the group in a custom burgundy Armani Privé gown embellished with crystals, inspired by a look from the label’s Spring 2025 collection, paired with metallic Giuseppe Zanotti sandals.
The variety of styles closely mirrored the mythological roles each actress embodies in Nolan’s retelling. Nyong’o takes on a rare dual role in the film, portraying both Helen of Troy and her sister Clytemnestra, two characters whose narratives are central to the larger saga surrounding the Trojan War and its aftermath.
This range has characterized Nyong’o’s approach to the press tour overall, with her wardrobe shifting dramatically between stops based on which aspect of her dual casting she seems to channel. The same holds true for her castmates, each of whom has utilized the tour to craft a visual identity that resonates with their characters without appearing overly literal or costume-like.
The Paris event followed closely after the film’s London premiere, where the same four actresses graced the carpet alongside co-stars Matt Damon, Tom Holland, and Robert Pattinson as Nolan’s highly anticipated epic officially debuted in theaters. With additional promotional stops reportedly still planned in other major cities, the tour shows no signs of slowing down before the film reaches audiences.
‘The Odyssey’ opens in theaters on July 17, wrapping up one of the most ambitious global press campaigns in recent memory. With the star power on display and the sheer scale of the promotional efforts, anticipation for Nolan’s interpretation of Homer’s epic continues to rise with each new event.
