‘It Ends With Us’ Star Justin Baldoni Provides Update on Blake Lively Lawsuit with Emily
Justin Baldoni and his wife Emily have recently addressed the ongoing legal conflict involving Blake Lively and the production of the 2024 film ‘It Ends With Us.’ In a video posted on Instagram, the couple shared their reflections on the challenging period they’ve endured over the past two years and explained their decision to remain silent until now.
Baldoni expressed that they had many opportunities to speak out but chose to wait for the right moment. “We have not spoken publicly for the better part of the last two years, and it’s not because we haven’t had anything to say, because lord knows we have,” he stated in the video. He mentioned that every time they contemplated making a statement, they felt it was more prudent to hold back.
Emily also spoke about the situation, indicating that while she has much to say regarding the dispute, timing is crucial. She emphasized that the couple is currently focusing on gratitude and the support they have received throughout this ordeal.
“It makes it hard to figure out what is right for this specific moment,” Emily remarked. “But what does feel important is that we can genuinely say that we are sitting here today feeling immense gratitude for so many things and so many people.”
Baldoni echoed her sentiments, stating that gratitude has been a guiding force during their tough times. “Gratitude has saved us,” he added.
The legal battle began when Lively accused Baldoni, who directed and starred alongside her in ‘It Ends With Us,’ of sexual harassment and claimed he attempted to tarnish her reputation through a coordinated online effort. The allegations surfaced publicly in December 2024, leading to a significant legal confrontation between the parties involved.
Baldoni and his production company Wayfarer Studios subsequently filed a $400 million defamation lawsuit against Lively and her husband Ryan Reynolds, alleging that Lively used false claims to gain control over the film’s production. However, a judge dismissed Baldoni’s lawsuit, ruling that Lively’s statements were protected under litigation privilege.
As reported by sources, Lively eventually withdrew her own lawsuit against Baldoni and Wayfarer before the case was set to go to trial in May. No financial settlement was reached, but Lively is now pursuing $7.5 million in legal fees from Baldoni and Wayfarer.
In their Instagram message, Baldoni explained that they opted not to respond publicly for an extended period to allow the legal process to unfold without drawing additional attention to the matter. He expressed gratitude to those who supported him during the controversy.
“You have given your time to fight for us, and thank you does not feel like enough,” Baldoni shared, noting that the experience has altered his perspective on relationships and support from others.
While the couple’s video did not delve into every aspect of the legal dispute, it marked their first significant public statement together since the controversy began. As both parties move forward after this highly publicized conflict, the legal issues surrounding the production of ‘It Ends With Us’ continue to draw attention.
