Charlize Theron Shines at ‘The Odyssey’ Premiere With Stunning Dior Look
Christopher Nolan’s mythology-infused epic has turned its international press tour into a fashion extravaganza, with the film’s leading ladies treating each red carpet appearance like a runway showcase. ‘The Odyssey’ has been making its way through London and Paris this week, and every new look seems to surpass the last.
Based on Homer’s ancient Greek poem, the film follows Odysseus, King of Ithaca, portrayed by Matt Damon, as he embarks on a long journey home after the Trojan War. The film features a star-studded cast that includes Zendaya, Tom Holland, Anne Hathaway, Lupita Nyong’o, John Leguizamo, and Charlize Theron, who plays the nymph Calypso.
At the Paris premiere on July 8, held at Le Grand Rex, Theron wowed attendees in a reimagined Dior Fall 2026 gown that quickly became one of the standout looks of the entire tour. The gown, designed with a lace bodice and dramatic black peplum, was styled by Leslie Fremar and adjusted from its original runway design to feature a deeper, more open neckline.
This alteration reportedly transformed the piece from an intriguing but somewhat conceptual runway design into a look that felt distinctly tailored to Theron, giving it a sleeker and more form-fitting shape. She completed the ensemble with black sandals and Dior jewelry, including a matching diamond and sapphire ring and a pink gold Diorissima ring, with hair styled by Adir Abergel and makeup by Kate Lee.
Theron shared more photos from her appearance on Instagram, playfully referencing her age and ongoing red carpet success. The caption, combined with the gown’s undeniable impact, quickly led fashion commentators to declare it her strongest moment of the press tour thus far.
This reaction follows her London premiere look, which sparked conversation for very different reasons. For that event, Theron donned a black velvet gown from Givenchy’s Fall 2026 collection, designed by Sarah Burton, paired with oversized white arm warmers that ended up overshadowing the dress itself in discussions.
Reactions to the gloves were notably mixed, with some praising the bold styling choice while others considered it a misstep compared to the sleeker gown underneath. In contrast, the Paris look has been widely regarded as a course correction, swapping the divisive accessory for a more streamlined and universally praised silhouette.
Theron’s Paris appearance also included a separate photocall earlier in the day near the Trocadero, where she paired a sharp black blazer with satin mini shorts from Tom Ford by Haider Ackermann, offering fans a sneak peek of the design house’s upcoming Spring 2027 collection ahead of its official unveiling.
Across both her London and Paris looks, Theron’s fashion choices reflect a broader theme throughout the film’s press tour, with actresses like Zendaya, Anne Hathaway, and Lupita Nyong’o embracing dramatic, mythology-inspired silhouettes that nod to the movie’s Greek origins without directly costuming as their characters. Theron’s blend of high drama and old Hollywood glamour fits seamlessly into this theme while establishing its own unique identity.
With ‘The Odyssey’ set to premiere in theaters on July 17, the cast has more press engagements ahead, suggesting there will be plenty more red carpet moments to come before the film’s release date arrives. If the transition from London to Paris is any indication, Theron shows no signs of slowing down her fashion momentum.
