Official Concept Art for ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ Revealed at Shanghai Expo
For over a year, fans have been piecing together bits of information about ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ from fleeting concept art that disappeared shortly after surfacing online to enigmatic set photos taken from behind construction barriers.
With Robert Downey Jr.’s transformation into Doctor Doom poised to be one of the biggest risks in franchise history, every new detail has been treated as gospel by a fanbase eager to grasp how Marvel intends to unite three distinct cinematic universes on screen.
This anticipation reached new heights this week when Marvel Studios unveiled the first officially sanctioned concept art from the film at the Shanghai Expo in China. Unlike the blurry, unauthorized leaks that fans have scrutinized for months, this artwork comes directly from the studio, finally revealing the characters who will confront Doctor Doom.
The artwork features the New Avengers lineup, including Yelena Belova, Red Guardian, Bucky, Ghost, U.S. Agent, and Bob, alongside Thor, Ant-Man, and Steve Rogers. The X-Men roster, featuring Cyclops, Gambit, Mystique, Beast, Magneto, and Professor X, is also prominently displayed. Additionally, the Fantastic Four are showcased, including Mister Fantastic, Invisible Woman, The Thing, and Human Torch, along with Sam Wilson’s Avengers group featuring Falcon, Shang-Chi, Shuri as Black Panther, and King M’Baku.
Sharp-eyed fans have already noticed a smaller detail beneath Doctor Doom himself: Loki appears in the artwork, seemingly positioned as the character still influencing the Multiverse as the film approaches its climax. This has sparked speculation about the extent of Tom Hiddleston’s variant’s role in the larger multiversal conflict.
This reveal coincides with a separate video message from Kevin Feige, shared with the audience on-site, featuring insights from the film’s creative team. It confirms the extensive cast, which includes Chris Evans, Chris Hemsworth, Anthony Mackie, Winston Duke, Sebastian Stan, Letitia Wright, Paul Rudd, and Robert Downey Jr., alongside newcomers like Wyatt Russell, Florence Pugh, David Harbour, and Lewis Pullman. The Russo Brothers are directing both ‘Doomsday’ and ‘Secret Wars,’ with a screenplay by Stephen McFeely, and produced by Feige, Louis D’Esposito, and Jonathan Schwartz.
This official reveal starkly contrasts with the film’s previous encounters with leaked content. In 2025, concept art attributed to Marvel artist Mushk Rizvi briefly appeared on ArtStation before being removed, giving fans an unauthorized look at characters like Star-Lord, White Vision, and a mysterious variant of Black Panther long before Marvel was ready to confirm anything. That leak prompted Marvel to enhance security around the production, making this week’s sanctioned reveal even more significant for a fanbase that has spent years piecing together fragments instead of receiving the real deal.
‘Avengers: Doomsday’ is set to release in the United States on December 18, with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ following on December 17, 2027, as these two films conclude the MCU’s Multiverse Saga. With official concept art now available and a trailer already generating excitement after its CinemaCon debut, Marvel seems poised to ramp up its marketing efforts as the film approaches its release.
