Tom Holland has always been open about his passion for football, and this enthusiasm has accompanied him throughout his career, from red carpets to talk shows, and even on the set of one of his most significant films.

With his commitments to ‘Spider-Man’ and now his role in Christopher Nolan’s ‘The Odyssey,’ the actor has gained recognition among British fans for his loyalty to Tottenham Hotspur, almost as much as for his impressive filmography.

While Holland’s devotion to the club has been documented in various forms, this time he took it a step further by comparing his football allegiance to the pinnacle of his profession. He recently confessed that he would prefer to see Spurs win the Premier League over winning an Academy Award himself, a statement that highlights the depth of his fandom.

Holland’s love for Tottenham is well-known; he frequently attends matches, closely follows transfer news, and has even attempted to persuade major stars to join the club. This latest comment feels less like a casual remark and more like a genuine insight into his priorities beyond acting.

His passion for Spurs recently intersected with his professional life during the filming of ‘The Odyssey.’ Holland shared that while shooting in Los Angeles, he was unable to check the score of Tottenham’s Europa League final against Manchester United due to production rules prohibiting phones on set.

He revealed to GQ that he kept sneaking over to crew members with phones to get updates, eventually catching the last ten minutes of the match during his lunch break, which energized him for a fantastic scene he was about to shoot.

Holland expressed particular joy for Tottenham captain Son Heung-Min, who finally lifted his first trophy after a decade with the club. He shared his happiness with GQ, noting that the Europa League win ended a 17-year trophy drought for Tottenham, making it clear why he values a Premier League title more than an Oscar.

The reaction from the Tottenham fanbase to Holland’s remarks has been overwhelmingly positive, with fans commending his genuine commitment to the club despite his fame. With ‘The Odyssey’ set to hit theaters on July 17 and awards season discussions already underway, it seems Holland’s true dream trophy is not a golden statue at all.
