Disney is kicking off the promotional campaign for Avengers: Doomsday early, giving fans the chance to secure their tickets months ahead of the film’s theatrical release. This proactive approach allows Marvel enthusiasts to plan for one of the most anticipated MCU releases.

As reported by The Hollywood Reporter, ticket sales for Avengers: Doomsday will commence on July 20. This early launch will focus on select premium-format theaters, particularly the newly introduced Infinity Vision screens, designed for major releases.

Starting ticket sales nearly five months before the film’s release on December 18 is a rare strategy for Marvel. Typically, ticket sales begin much closer to the release date, but Disney seems confident that the upcoming Avengers film will attract significant fan interest.

The early ticket sales are tied to theater scheduling needs, as cinemas require advance notice to organize showtimes. Disney has shared key information about the film, including its anticipated runtime, with theaters.

The expected runtime for Avengers: Doomsday is 165 minutes, or two hours and 45 minutes. While Marvel has yet to confirm this length, The Hollywood Reporter cites sources for this information. If accurate, this film will rank among the longest in the MCU.

This runtime would surpass that of Avengers: Infinity War, which was 149 minutes, but remain shorter than Avengers: Endgame, the longest Marvel film at 181 minutes.

This early ticketing strategy coincides with Disney’s plans for a significant return of the Avengers franchise. The studio is also set to offer Infinity Vision screenings for a special re-release of Avengers: Endgame, titled Avengers: Endgame Encore, scheduled for September 25.

While Marvel has not publicly commented on the ticketing plans, this move indicates that the studio is eager to generate excitement for the upcoming crossover event. The early ticket sales will launch just days before Marvel’s appearance at San Diego Comic-Con on July 25, where the first full trailer for the film is expected to be unveiled.

Avengers: Doomsday is poised to be one of the most significant MCU projects, uniting heroes from various corners of the Marvel universe. The plot will feature Earth’s Mightiest Heroes confronting a new threat in Doctor Doom, portrayed by Robert Downey Jr.

The film boasts a star-studded cast, including Chris Hemsworth as Thor, Anthony Mackie as Captain America, Pedro Pascal as Mister Fantastic, Vanessa Kirby as Invisible Woman, Florence Pugh as Yelena Belova, Tom Hiddleston as Loki, and many others. It will also introduce characters from the Fantastic Four and X-Men franchises.

With ticket sales launching so early, Marvel is clearly gearing up for a monumental theatrical experience. Fans eager to see Avengers: Doomsday in premium formats will have the chance to reserve their seats well in advance of the film’s official release.

Directed by Anthony and Joe Russo, Avengers: Doomsday is set to hit theaters on December 18.
