Kevin Feige Provides Update on ‘Black Panther 3’ and Future of Wakanda
Marvel Studios has spent the last year carefully managing expectations regarding its post-Fantastic Four slate, deliberately keeping details about several major upcoming projects vague while fan anticipation continues to grow. With Comic Con just around the corner and ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ finally set for release, Kevin Feige found himself answering questions about nearly everything on the studio’s horizon.
This included one of the most eagerly awaited follow-ups in Marvel’s lineup, a film that has been quietly developing behind the scenes with little concrete information reaching fans. Naturally, Feige’s response managed to reveal almost nothing while still generating significant buzz.
When asked directly if ‘Black Panther 3‘ could realistically start filming next year, Feige offered a characteristically coy reply. Speaking with Collider, he simply stated, “Maybe. Maybe” when pressed about the film’s potential production timeline.
Such noncommittal answers have become a hallmark for Feige when discussing projects still in early development. He provided a similar response regarding casting updates for Jake Schreier’s upcoming X-Men film, indicating that both projects remain firmly in the planning stages rather than nearing a formal announcement.
Despite the lack of concrete information, ‘Black Panther 3’ has been confirmed to be moving forward for some time now. Ryan Coogler is expected to return to direct the film, which is widely believed to be targeting a 2028 release window based on Marvel’s broader release calendar.
Reports suggest that ‘Black Panther 3’ currently ranks among Marvel’s top priorities for its post-Doomsday era, alongside the studio’s X-Men relaunch. This prioritization indicates that the franchise remains a significant focus for Marvel, even as specific production details remain under wraps.

Feige’s comments come at a particularly busy time for the Marvel boss. He is currently managing the final promotional push for ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day,’ preparing for Marvel’s return to Hall H at San Diego Comic Con, and continuing work on ‘Avengers: Doomsday,’ which is set to hit theaters this December.
Feige’s return to Comic Con carries extra significance given the studio’s absence from the panel last year. His remarks hinted at the kind of surprises fans have come to expect from Marvel’s Hall H presentations, joking that attending the panel is always about saving a few reveals rather than giving away too much too soon.
Marvel’s broader release slate remains packed for the next several years, with ‘Avengers: Secret Wars’ following ‘Doomsday’ in December 2027. Beyond those confirmed tentpoles, projects like a potential Shang-Chi sequel and the eventual X-Men film continue to progress alongside Black Panther’s next chapter.
With so many moving pieces across Marvel’s expanding slate, it makes sense that Feige would keep details about a project as far out as ‘Black Panther 3’ deliberately vague for now. Still, even a noncommittal maybe from the Marvel boss is enough to keep fans buzzing about when Wakanda’s next big screen chapter might actually start coming together.
