Jacob Elordi Shares Shocking Behind-the-Scenes Details of His ‘Euphoria’ Death Scene
Jacob Elordi experienced one of the most bizarre and uncomfortable filming moments of his career while working on the final season of HBO’s ‘Euphoria’. The actor disclosed that his character Nate Jacobs’ death scene required him to spend days confined inside a coffin, sharing the tight space with a real snake.
During his appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, with ‘Euphoria’ co-star Colman Domingo as guest host, Elordi discussed the intense experience of filming Nate’s brutal ending. The scene depicted Nate being buried alive and subsequently attacked by a snake, marking one of the series’ most shocking moments.
The audience reacted with sadness when Domingo brought up Nate’s death, which took Elordi by surprise, given the character’s controversial reputation among fans. Nate had often been viewed as one of ‘Euphoria’s’ most despised figures due to his cruel and manipulative actions throughout the series.
Elordi humorously commented on the sudden shift in fan sentiment.
“Finally, after eight years of all of you saying, ‘Fuck Nate, kill Nate, Nate’s a piece of shit’ — yeah, I read your tweets — now you’re sad. Hmm,” he remarked.
Before his demise, Nate’s storyline in Season 3 took him on a tumultuous journey. Following issues related to his real estate business, he found himself targeted by dangerous individuals who repeatedly assaulted him. Elordi noted that much of his final season involved intense physical challenges and action-packed scenes.
“I think Sam brought me back to torture me,” Elordi said, referencing ‘Euphoria’ creator Sam Levinson. “It was like, six weeks of me just getting beat by a seven-foot guy. I was just running the whole time.”

Elordi explained that the final death sequence was even more demanding. For two days, he was locked inside a coffin while wearing heavy makeup effects and a fake tongue. This setup aimed to portray Nate’s final moments as both disturbing and realistic.
“I got locked in a coffin for two days straight with prosthetics and a fake tongue, and I couldn’t see out of my eyes. And then Sam put snakes into the coffin,” Elordi revealed.
One of the snakes was a real boa constrictor. While the show depicted the creature as a dangerous rattlesnake, Elordi mentioned that the actual snake was much calmer than anticipated.
“He had a very nice personality,” the actor shared. “He was very docile and very sleepy. I don’t think he’d had a lot of sun … So I was kind of nudging him, trying to get him to get active and do the scene, because he was meant to be threatening. But he was like a little dog. He just kept curling up at my feet.”
Despite the challenging experience, Elordi stated that ‘Euphoria’ significantly transformed his career. The HBO drama helped establish him as one of Hollywood’s most sought-after young actors and paved the way for major film opportunities.
“It really changed my whole life. It’s an incredible thing. … I don’t know if I’ll ever fathom the sort of size of that show and what it did for me,” Elordi said.
He also reflected on how the series has propelled both him and Domingo into larger projects, highlighting their career advancements since joining the show.
Elordi is now maintaining that momentum with new film roles, including Ridley Scott’s ‘The Dog Stars’, which is set to premiere on August 28. While Nate Jacobs may be gone, Elordi’s journey on ‘Euphoria’ remains a pivotal moment in his acting career.
