Miles Morales has become a cherished character in the Spider-Man universe, thanks in large part to Sony’s Oscar-winning animated ‘Spider-Verse’ franchise. Despite his immense popularity, fans have been eagerly awaiting confirmation of his transition into live action alongside Tom Holland’s Peter Parker.

This week, Marvel Studios head Kevin Feige provided a clear response, indicating that the character’s live-action debut is not merely a hopeful rumor but a project actively in the works. Feige confirmed that Marvel Studios is indeed planning to introduce Miles Morales in live action, although the timeline hinges on the completion of Sony’s animated ‘Spider-Verse’ trilogy.

Feige explained that a live-action Spider-Man film is destined to incorporate Miles after the conclusion of the ‘Spider-Verse’ series. This development has been subtly hinted at over the years within the MCU. He referenced a line from ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ where Jamie Foxx’s Electro mentions that there’s always a black Spider-Man somewhere, a moment many interpreted as a nod toward Miles.

According to Feige, the success of Sony’s ‘Into the Spider-Verse’ franchise directly influences the timing of any live-action introduction. He noted that with ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Universe’ still on the horizon, Marvel is willing to wait for the animated trilogy to finish its narrative before bringing Miles into the live-action continuity.

This timeline aligns with broader comments Feige made regarding the franchise’s future. He revealed ongoing discussions with his longtime producing partner Amy Pascal about the next Spider-Man films, indicating plans for additional installments regardless of existing agreements.

This isn’t the first time Feige has addressed Miles Morales’s potential live-action future. He previously mentioned to Omelete that he hoped Miles could join the MCU shortly after his third animated film is completed, linking his introduction to the end of Sony’s trilogy.

Sony producer Amy Pascal has also expressed interest in Miles Morales’s live-action potential, stating that Sony was working on adaptations for both Miles and Spider-Woman following the release of ‘Across the Spider-Verse.’ However, she has tempered expectations, suggesting fans may need to wait longer for these projects to come to fruition.

Further complicating the situation, Sony has reportedly requested Marvel to delay introducing its own version of Miles Morales until the ‘Spider-Verse’ trilogy concludes. Feige indicated that this means any live-action portrayal of the character will likely come from Sony rather than as a surprise reveal in an upcoming MCU Spider-Man film.

With ‘Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse’ currently facing production challenges and targeting a 2027 release, fans eager to see Miles in live action may still have a significant wait ahead. Nevertheless, Feige’s recent confirmation serves as the clearest indication yet that the character’s live-action debut is genuinely part of Marvel’s long-term strategy rather than just ongoing fan speculation.
