Marvel enthusiasts have been eagerly piecing together Peter Parker’s life following the identity reveal that concluded ‘Spider-Man No Way Home.’ MJ is now in a relationship with another man, yet she remains friends with Peter’s former best friend Ned, a detail that has already altered fans’ perspectives on ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day.’ The film has been generating excitement for over a year, and each new piece of footage has only heightened the anticipation surrounding its release.

This anticipation is certainly justified. Sony announced that the first trailer for the film became the biggest trailer in history, amassing approximately 718.6 million views within its first 24 hours, according to tracking data from WaveMetrix, easily surpassing the previous record held by the second ‘GTA 6’ trailer. The clip garnered 373 million views in just eight hours, outpacing even ‘Deadpool and Wolverine’ and the original ‘No Way Home’ trailer.

Now, a new claim has surfaced that focuses on a particular moment in the film’s runtime. Tom Holland reportedly indicates that everything in ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ begins to go “really crazy” around the 26-minute mark, which is when Peter Parker sees MJ with another man for the first time on screen. If this is accurate, it suggests that the emotional blow fans have been anticipating arrives much sooner in the film than many had expected.

This setup aligns well with what has already been confirmed about the storyline. Peter Parker returns as Spider-Man, but no one remembers him due to the mind wipe spell from ‘No Way Home’ that erased his identity from the world entirely. This spell draws from the comic storyline of the same name, where Parker’s original deal with Mephisto resets his world and ends his marriage to MJ, making MJ’s romantic progression resonate with the spirit of the source material, even if the details differ.

The trailer has already hinted at the awkwardness that arises between Peter and MJ moving forward. In one exchange, Peter tells MJ he’s just a neighbor from across the hall while delivering her a housewarming gift of flowers, to which she responds, “friendly neighbor,” causing him to choke on his drink. This lighter moment confirms that the two are navigating a relationship reset from very different starting points.

Behind the scenes, the film has focused heavily on rebuilding Peter from the ground up. The identity reveal stripped Peter of access to Tony Stark’s resources and his Avengers allies, forcing him back to his working-class roots, which aligns with a Peter who is now isolated both financially and emotionally. Director Destin Daniel Cretton has expressed his desire to deliver an emotional narrative unlike anything seen in the franchise before.

With ‘Spider-Man Brand New Day’ swinging into theaters on July 31, fans won’t have to wait much longer to discover if the 26-minute mark truly is the moment everything unravels for Peter. Do you think witnessing MJ with someone new this early in the film will resonate more deeply than the reveal fans have been anticipating?
