San Diego Comic-Con has evolved beyond just a trailer showcase this year. With ‘Avengers Doomsday’ still several months away, toy companies are racing to reveal their interpretations of the film, providing fans with a steady stream of costume designs and character reveals long before the movie hits theaters.

Merchandise has become one of the most effective ways to glean insights into what audiences can expect on screen, especially for a film that Marvel has kept under wraps. This year’s rollout has offered fans more concrete visual information than almost any trailer available so far, thanks to costume displays on the convention floor and premium collectibles from various toy lines.

The latest reveal comes from Bandai, whose Tamashii Nations brand has launched its S.H.Figuarts lineup for ‘Avengers Doomsday,’ showcasing six-inch scale figures of Doctor Doom, Thor, and Captain America. This is one of the clearest glimpses yet at how these iconic characters will appear when the film finally arrives in theaters.

The Doctor Doom figure emphasizes the character’s new role as the film’s central antagonist, featuring interchangeable crossed arm parts to recreate his iconic pose. Additionally, the figure includes a wired cape and swappable wrist pieces, providing collectors with a variety of posing options for a villain Marvel has been building up as the face of this crossover event.

Thor’s figure showcases his latest costume from the film, complete with Mjolnir that features intricate cracked detailing. Pairing it with Stormbreaker opens up even more scene possibilities, continuing a design lineage fans have followed since Chris Hemsworth’s character first wielded the reforged hammer.

Captain America completes the trio, this time based on Anthony Mackie’s portrayal of the hero rather than the classic Steve Rogers design. The figure comes equipped with his signature shield and a full set of wing parts, enabling collectors to recreate both grounded combat scenes and the character’s aerial fighting style introduced since he assumed the mantle.

Both the Doctor Doom and Captain America figures are slated for release in December, priced at 100 dollars and 150 dollars respectively, while Thor is also expected in December at a price point of 90 dollars. This timing aligns almost perfectly with the film’s theatrical release, allowing fans to own these designs right around the same time they see them on screen.

This wave from Bandai is just one part of a much larger toy rollout connected to the film. Hasbro has already teased its own Marvel Legends line featuring Thor, Doctor Doom, and Steve Rogers, while Hot Toys has unveiled premium 1/6 scale figures spotlighting Doctor Doom and members of the X-Men at the Sideshow booth. Iron Studios has also joined in with its own statues, offering collectors a diverse range of price points and detail levels to choose from.

For a film that has kept much of its content under wraps, this steady stream of merchandise has become one of the most reliable ways for fans to piece together its visual identity. With costume reveals on the show floor and figures like these from Bandai, ‘Avengers Doomsday’ is shaping up to be one of the most thoroughly previewed blockbusters of the year, even without a full trailer revealing everything.

‘Avengers Doomsday’ is set to hit theaters on December 18, giving collectors and moviegoers ample time to study every detail Marvel has allowed to slip so far.
