New ‘Tangled’ Set Video Brings Iconic Scene to Life and Fans Are Emotional
Disney’s live-action adaptations often hinge on a few pivotal moments, with fans eagerly assessing how faithfully these beloved scenes are recreated. For ‘Tangled,’ there’s one particular scene that carries immense significance.
That moment has now been captured on the live-action set, and footage of it has quickly gone viral. A new HD video from the production features Teagan Croft’s Rapunzel as she gets her hair braided by townspeople, directly mirroring one of the most cherished sequences from the 2010 animated film.
The 15-second clip showcases Croft in a purple gown reminiscent of Rapunzel’s iconic look, standing in the kingdom of Corona while her long blonde hair, enhanced with extensive extensions, is intricately braided. This scene reflects the moment Rapunzel escapes her tower and gets her hair styled by helpful locals, complete with colorful flowers woven throughout, just like in the animated version.
This footage comes alongside other new material from the shoot in Spain, including clips of Croft navigating a lively recreation of Corona filled with background extras. This suggests that the production is filming one of the story’s larger festival or musical sequences. Additional set photos hint at a potential coronation scene, raising questions about whether the remake will expand on story elements that were only briefly addressed in the original film’s conclusion.
Fans have particularly noted Croft’s costume in the new footage, as her pink-and-purple dress closely mirrors the gown worn by Rapunzel in the animated classic. This attention to detail aligns with a broader trend in the production, which seems to prioritize a faithful recreation of the source material over a drastic reimagining, a strategy that has generally resonated better with fans compared to some of Disney’s more loosely adapted live-action projects.
Croft stars as Rapunzel alongside Milo Manheim as Flynn Rider, with Kathryn Hahn portraying the villainous Mother Gothel and Diego Luna in a yet-to-be-revealed role. Michael Gracey, known for directing ‘The Greatest Showman,’ is at the helm, with Jennifer Kaytin Robinson penning the screenplay.
The project has experienced a tumultuous path to production. Initially announced in December 2024, it was put on indefinite hold in April 2025 due to the disappointing box office performance of the live-action ‘Snow White,’ before resuming production in October 2025 following the blockbuster success of the live-action ‘Lilo & Stitch.’

This stop-and-start history adds extra pressure on how this remake performs when it finally hits theaters. With Disney’s live-action ‘Moana’ also reportedly facing commercial struggles and expected to lose over $100 million by the end of its theatrical run, the studio has a strong incentive to ensure ‘Tangled’ resonates with both longtime fans and general audiences.
The braiding footage is not the only glimpse of Croft in character that has emerged from the Spanish set. Earlier videos and photos showed her walking through the streets of Corona, while other images captured her without the signature braid, indicating that different scenes are being filmed out of the story’s chronological order, which is common in most film productions. Fans comparing the various looks have noted how seamlessly the production blends Croft’s natural appearance with the character’s extensive wig work.
‘Tangled’ is currently slated to arrive in theaters in 2028, meaning fans have a lengthy wait ahead before they can evaluate the completed film for themselves. For now, though, this glimpse of one of animation’s most iconic scenes coming to life has generated some of the most enthusiastic reactions yet.
