‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ has been rewriting box office records since its release, and its second weekend in theaters showcased that the momentum is still strong. Sony and Marvel’s latest film featuring Tom Holland earned $145 million domestically during its sophomore weekend, marking the third-largest second weekend in box office history and one of only eight films to surpass $100 million in its second weekend alone.

This impressive staying power has already established the film as the highest-grossing movie of 2026, with industry experts now looking beyond this year’s charts. After crossing $1 billion globally in just six days, the film continues to climb, setting new expectations for modern blockbusters during their theatrical runs.

With North American earnings reaching $655 million and a global total of $1.67 billion after just ten days, box office analysts project that ‘Brand New Day’ is on track to exceed $2.5 billion in total worldwide earnings. If this trajectory holds, it would place the film alongside ‘Avatar’ and ‘Avengers: Endgame’ as the third movie ever to cross that milestone, potentially making it the third highest-grossing film of all time.

Achieving this milestone would place ‘Brand New Day’ in an elite category. ‘Avatar’ currently leads the all-time chart with $2.9 billion worldwide, while ‘Avengers: Endgame’ follows with $2.7 billion, meaning Holland’s Spider-Man could soon be closing in on these monumental box office records.

Each phase of the film’s release has been marked by new milestones. ‘Brand New Day’ opened with a record-setting $360 million domestically and $932 million globally, making it the second-largest worldwide debut ever, just behind ‘Endgame.’ It has also delivered the highest-grossing totals for Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday in box office history.

The film also became the fastest to cross $400 million domestically, achieving this in just four days, and the second-fastest to reach $1 billion globally. Reflecting on this achievement, Marvel Studios president Kevin Feige expressed surprise that ‘Endgame’s’ domestic opening record was broken, but he is thrilled that it was surpassed by the franchise’s thirty-eighth MCU film, according to Variety.

With positive word-of-mouth continuing to fuel ticket sales and minimal competition on the release calendar in the coming weeks, analysts believe the film has a strong chance of reaching the coveted $3 billion mark, a feat only ‘Avatar’ has achieved without a re-release. Given the film’s current pace, even matching ‘Endgame’s’ original theatrical total seems well within reach before it exits theaters.

For a franchise that has already generated over $33 billion across thirty-eight films, ‘Brand New Day’ solidifying its place among cinema’s three biggest earners would represent a remarkable achievement for Holland’s fourth solo outing as the web-slinger.
