Richard Madden is making his return to the thriller genre with an exciting new series that will be available on both Amazon Prime Video and Paramount+. According to Variety, the actor will take the lead in the upcoming show currently titled ‘Trauma,’ which unfolds in a London hospital during a harrowing hostage crisis.

In ‘Trauma,’ Madden portrays Jim Marchant, a former Royal Marines medic turned emergency room doctor. When terrorists seize control of a bustling London hospital and capture the Prime Minister during surgery, Marchant finds himself in a desperate struggle to save those trapped inside.

As the situation escalates, Marchant must navigate various floors of the hospital, confronting new dangers at every turn. The series promises to merge the urgency of a medical drama with the suspense of a survival thriller.

‘Trauma’ will feature a distinctive international release strategy. Prime Video will distribute the series in the United Kingdom and Ireland, while Paramount+ will handle its release in other regions worldwide. This project is a collaboration between Lionsgate Television and 42 Management & Production, both of which are instrumental in bringing the series to life.

Created by Geoff Bussetil, known for his work on ‘Slow Horses,’ ‘Scoop,’ and ‘Skins,’ he will also write the series. Daniel Syrkin, who directed ‘Tehran’ and ‘MobLand,’ will direct and serve as an executive producer.

In addition to starring in the series, Madden will also take on the role of executive producer. Other executive producers include Ben Pugh and Ben Cavey from 42, with Chrissy Skinns producing and Chris Kennedy as co-producer.

Jane Wiseman, Paramount+’s head of originals, praised the project, saying, ‘Trauma’ is exactly the kind of bold, global and propulsive storytelling we want Paramount+ audiences to experience. Geoff Bussetil has crafted a nail-biting thriller that puts our audience inside one impossible night with a hero played by the incredibly talented Richard Madden.

Ben Cavey from 42 also emphasized the unique blend of the show’s concept and Madden’s character, describing it as a thriller that combines the fast-paced environment of an emergency room with the tension of a siege narrative. He noted that Madden is the ideal choice for the complex hero who must draw on both his medical expertise and military experience.

This series adds yet another thrilling role to Madden’s impressive repertoire. He gained fame for his portrayal of Robb Stark on HBO’s ‘Game of Thrones’ and later won a Golden Globe Award for his role in the BBC One and Netflix series ‘Bodyguard.’ He has also appeared in Amazon’s ‘Citadel,’ Marvel’s ‘Eternals,’ Disney’s ‘Cinderella,’ ‘Rocketman,’ and ‘1917.’

With ‘Trauma,’ Madden returns to the action-heavy roles that helped establish him as a prominent television star. The series is set to revolve around one perilous night where every choice could lead to life or death, placing Madden’s character at the heart of a survival struggle.

While no release date has been announced yet, with its international support and talented creative team, ‘Trauma’ is poised to be one of the most ambitious thriller projects debuting on streaming platforms.
