Sunny Sandler Shares Adam Sandler’s Pool Habit on The Tonight Show
Sunny Sandler had Jimmy Fallon in stitches as she recounted one of her funniest stories about her father, Adam Sandler. During her appearance on The Tonight Show, the young actress revealed a peculiar family habit related to her dad’s swimming pool routine, leaving Fallon skeptical about the authenticity of her tale.
Sunny explained that she and her sister Sadie often poked fun at their famous father by mimicking his style and quirks. They would don Adam’s oversized clothing, sip Diet Cokes, and act like him, with their impressions becoming even more spot-on when they decided to imitate one of his odd pool habits.
“Me and my sister, we dressed up in his clothes, before that was popular and cool. The big shirts, the shorts, we held Diet Cokes and yelled about the air conditioning being off,” Sunny told Fallon. “And then we jumped in the pool with our socks on.”
The reason behind the sock-wearing joke piqued Fallon’s interest. Sunny claimed her father actually wears socks in the pool because he finds it challenging to take them off on land. “He wears his socks in the pool because he can’t bend to take them off on land,” she said. Fallon was quick to question the story, unable to believe that the comedic actor would actually do something like that.
“That is not true at all,” Fallon exclaimed. “He’s the funniest dude ever.” Sunny stood her ground, insisting that the story was indeed true. When Fallon asked how Adam would eventually remove the socks, Sunny explained that he would do it while already in the water. “Yes, and then he’ll drain them,” she added, noting that afterward, “you play catch with them.”
While there is no concrete evidence of Adam Sandler actually swimming with socks on, fans have observed that the actor has previously joked about clothing and footwear. In the 1995 comedy ‘Billy Madison’, Sandler’s character is seen lounging in a pool while still wearing socks and shoes.
The pool story wasn’t the only family anecdote Sunny shared during her time on the show. She also discussed her early connection to acting and her childhood experiences on her father’s movie sets.
Sunny made her film debut as a baby in 2010’s ‘Grown Ups’, and she told Fallon that she still recalls some moments from the shoot. However, she acknowledged that some of those memories might stem from hearing her family recount them over the years.
She reminisced about a particularly stressful day on set when she fell seriously ill with a high fever. Sunny mentioned that an ambulance was on standby because the cast was concerned about their health while playing basketball in the heat.
“I had a 104 degree fever, and there was an ambulance there because all the guys were playing basketball and they were scared they were gonna have heart attacks,” she explained.
Ultimately, the ambulance ended up assisting Sunny instead, as she required medical attention. Despite the scare, filming continued.
“They put me in the ambulance and had to take me because I was burning up,” she said. “But we finished the movie! We finished the shot, so it was fine.”
Sunny also shared her experiences of making homemade movies with her sister Sadie when they were younger. She noted that those moments helped ignite her passion for acting, even though Sadie often abandoned projects midway through for new ideas.
Now, Sunny is continuing her acting journey with the upcoming Netflix film ‘Don’t Say Good Luck’, where she stars alongside Melanie Lynskey. She mentioned to Fallon that working with Lynskey was a rewarding experience as they formed a close bond during filming.
Sunny’s appearance offered fans a rare glimpse into the Sandler family dynamic, showcasing that even one of Hollywood’s biggest comedy stars can be the subject of playful jokes at home.
