Inde Navarrette may not be confirmed for Marvel Studios’ upcoming X-Men reboot, but she is certainly excited about the next generation of mutants.

The breakout star of ‘Obsession’ recently shared her Marvel aspirations, her dream role, and her admiration for Sadie Sink’s portrayal of Jean Grey.

Although rumors have linked Navarrette to the MCU, she clarified that nothing official has transpired yet. During her appearance on Variety’s “Up Next” podcast, she mentioned taking meetings across Hollywood following the success of ‘Obsession’, including a discussion with ‘X-Men’ director Jake Schreier.

Navarrette expressed her admiration for Schreier’s work on ‘Thunderbolts’, explaining her eagerness to meet him. “I thought what Jake brought to ‘Thunderbolts’ was what I used to love about Marvel. It was character-driven, and the whole time I just couldn’t stop yapping about how much I appreciated what he did with Marvel,” she stated.

While their meeting doesn’t guarantee a role in the MCU, Navarrette did share which mutant she dreams of portraying if given the chance. She expressed her desire to play Mystique, one of the most iconic characters in the X-Men universe.

Mystique has always been super cool, Navarrette remarked when discussing her dream Marvel character. The shapeshifting mutant has been a significant figure in the X-Men franchise, previously portrayed by Rebecca Romijn and Jennifer Lawrence in earlier films.

For Navarrette, the allure of Mystique extends beyond her powers. She has always been captivated by the behind-the-scenes efforts involved in creating characters with intricate makeup and visual effects. She specifically noted her fascination with the practical effects used for characters like Mystique and the designs from the ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ films.

While Navarrette may not have a confirmed MCU role yet, she is already showing support for another rising star in the mutant realm. She recently commended Sadie Sink’s performance as Jean Grey in ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’, describing her work as impressive.

“Sadie Sink did a phenomenal job… she completely stole the movie. I can’t wait to see where she goes,” Navarrette said.

Sink’s casting as Jean Grey has sparked significant discussion regarding Marvel’s upcoming X-Men era. Fans are eager to see how the new generation of mutants will come together, and Navarrette’s name has quickly emerged as one that audiences would love to see added to the lineup.

Currently, Marvel has only revealed a few details about the forthcoming ‘X-Men’ reboot. Alongside Sink as Jean Grey, Samara Weaving has been cast as Emma Frost. However, many key roles remain unannounced, leaving ample room for speculation.

The reboot is being directed by Jake Schreier, with a script penned by Lee Sung Jin and Joanna Calo. While Marvel has yet to announce a release date, the project is anticipated to play a crucial role in the studio’s next phase of storytelling.

For now, Navarrette’s comments about Mystique remain a hopeful casting idea rather than an official confirmation. Nevertheless, with her rising profile and increasing fan support, many viewers are already envisioning what she could contribute to the X-Men universe.
