Sony Revamps Andrew Garfield’s ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ Films with Stunning New Artwork
Sony Pictures has been indulging in nostalgia this week, meticulously refreshing its entire Spider-Man catalog with new visual designs. After updating both Sam Raimi’s original trilogy and Tom Holland’s MCU films, the studio has now shifted its focus to the often-overlooked middle chapter of the character’s cinematic journey.
Andrew Garfield’s brief yet impactful portrayal of Peter Parker came between Tobey Maguire’s departure and Holland’s eventual introduction, presenting a darker, romance-driven interpretation of the character that still boasts a loyal fanbase years later. Although this era produced only two films before Sony transitioned to its collaboration with Marvel Studios, both movies left a unique visual and tonal mark on the franchise.
Sony Pictures has unveiled new poster artwork for ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ and ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’, as part of a larger ten-poster series that encompasses every live-action and animated Spider-Man film the studio has created.
The redesigned ‘Amazing Spider-Man’ poster features a blue-toned color palette, showcasing Garfield’s Spider-Man towering over Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans’ villain, the Lizard, both of whom were central to the film’s conflict.

The sequel’s new artwork follows a similar theme, focusing on the characters that defined ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’. This poster highlights Garfield’s web-slinger facing off against Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin, the film’s dual villains whose intertwining storylines became a notable, if contentious, aspect of the sequel’s narrative. Stone’s Gwen Stacy also features prominently, emphasizing her crucial role in the film’s emotional stakes.

Both posters maintain a consistent format with the rest of Sony’s newly revealed collection, giving each era of Spider-Man’s film history its own unique color identity while ensuring a cohesive overall design across the entire set. This approach aligns Garfield’s blue-hued duology with Raimi’s trilogy and Holland’s gold-toned MCU films, creating a unified visual tribute to the character’s over twenty-year cinematic journey.
This release is part of a broader unveiling that also includes new artwork for the animated ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, which received its own purple-accented poster featuring Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, and the Prowler. Collectively, the ten-poster series covers every aspect of Sony’s Spider-Man output, providing fans with a rare side-by-side comparison of how the character’s on-screen identity has evolved across various actors, directors, and creative eras.
The timing of this retrospective coincides with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continuing to perform strongly at the box office, offering Sony a timely opportunity to highlight the character’s full cinematic legacy while public interest is at its peak. It also comes as renewed attention has turned toward the franchise’s earlier chapters, with Raimi’s original trilogy having recently returned to theaters through a limited Fathom Entertainment release.
Garfield’s two-film tenure remains one of the more debated segments in Spider-Man’s cinematic history, lauded by many for the chemistry between Garfield and Stone but criticized by others for the sequel’s overcrowded villain lineup. The dedicated visual treatment of both films alongside the rest of the franchise indicates that Sony is not looking to downplay that era, even as Holland’s version continues to break box office records.
