Sony Unveils Stunning New Look for Sam Raimi’s Original ‘Spider-Man’ Trilogy
Sony Pictures has dedicated the past week to celebrating the rich history of its Spider-Man franchise, and now it’s time for Tobey Maguire’s original trilogy to shine. With Tom Holland’s fourth solo film still making waves in theaters, the studio is taking this opportunity to remind fans of the incredible journey the wall-crawler has taken since Sam Raimi first introduced him to audiences.
Maguire’s portrayal of Spider-Man began in 2002, paving the way for the modern superhero film era and establishing a template that every Spider-Man adaptation has had to navigate. Over three films, Raimi crafted a version of Peter Parker marked by heartbreak, heroism, and increasingly formidable villains, culminating in the 2007 film ‘Spider-Man 3’, which remains divisive yet memorable.
Recently, Sony Pictures revealed new poster artwork for Sam Raimi’s original ‘Spider-Man’ trilogy, part of a broader collection of ten redesigned posters that encompass every live-action and animated Spider-Man film released by the studio.
The refreshed artwork for ‘Spider-Man 3’ prominently features Thomas Haden Church’s Sandman alongside Maguire, highlighting the film that also introduced the symbiote Venom and Maguire’s iconic black-suited Spider-Man.

This new wave of poster art extends beyond Raimi’s trilogy. It also includes redesigned artwork for Andrew Garfield’s two films as Spider-Man, with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ showcasing a blue-toned color palette featuring Garfield alongside Emma Stone’s Gwen Stacy and Rhys Ifans’ Lizard. Meanwhile, ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ highlights Garfield’s confrontation with Jamie Foxx’s Electro and Dane DeHaan’s Green Goblin.

Tom Holland’s trilogy has also received a matching treatment as part of this release, along with a purple-accented poster for the animated ‘Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse’, featuring Miles Morales, Gwen Stacy, Peter B. Parker, and the Prowler. Together, these ten posters provide fans with a unique side-by-side comparison of how Spider-Man’s visual identity has evolved over more than two decades of film.

The timing of this retrospective poster campaign coincides perfectly with ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’ continuing its record-breaking run in theaters. This provides Sony with a prime opportunity to highlight the character’s extensive cinematic legacy while audience interest is at an all-time high. Additionally, it follows the news of Raimi’s original trilogy returning to theaters last fall through Fathom Entertainment, which included a 4K theatrical debut of “Spider-Man 2.1,” the extended cut of ‘Spider-Man 2’ first released on DVD in 2007.
That theatrical re-release took place from September 26 to October 5, 2025, starting with the original ‘Spider-Man’, followed by ‘Spider-Man 2.1’ and ‘Spider-Man 3’, with an encore weekend held from October 3 to 5. Fathom Entertainment CEO Ray Nutt commented on the lasting appeal of Maguire’s performance, stating, “The success of ‘Spider-Man’ in 2002 helped launch the modern era of superhero films. To this day, Tobey Maguire’s take on Spider-Man resonates across generations.”
With the new poster art and the upcoming theatrical re-release, Sony seems committed to keeping Raimi’s trilogy at the forefront of cultural discussions, even as Holland’s latest installment breaks box office records.
