Marvel enthusiasts can now rejoice as the complete character lineup for the upcoming tag team brawler has been unveiled. ‘Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’ has confirmed its full launch roster, featuring a diverse mix of Avengers, X-Men, and villains, providing players with plenty to explore before the game officially launches.

This title is a collaboration between Marvel Games, PlayStation Studios, and Arc System Works, emphasizing 4v4 team battles in a best-of-three format. Unlike previous Marvel tag fighters, all four characters on a team share a single life bar, which significantly alters the strategy for tagging in and out during matches.

The full roster is categorized into five groups based on each character’s comic history, starting with the Fighting Avengers, which includes Captain America, Iron Man, Hulk, and Black Panther. Captain America brings his iconic ricocheting shield to the fray, serving as a defensive anchor alongside Iron Man’s technical arsenal.

The Amazing Guardians feature Spider-Man, Ms. Marvel, Star-Lord, and Peni Parker, forming a squad that excels in aerial mobility and combo extensions. Star-Lord utilizes ranged blasters and rocket boots, while Peni Parker operates her SP//dr mech, deploying drones and traps across the battlefield.

On the mutant side, the Unbreakable X-Men includes Storm, Magik, Wolverine, and Danger. Storm serves as a technical fighter with elemental abilities, Wolverine is a hard-hitting close-range option, and Magik teleports around the stage using Dark Portals while wielding her Soulsword.

The villain roster is equally impressive. The Knights of Doom are led by Doctor Doom, accompanied by Magneto, Green Goblin, and Carnage. Doctor Doom combines science and magic, equipped with a Nullify Shield to parry incoming attacks, while Magneto manipulates metal debris to control the battlefield, and Green Goblin zooms around on his glider, dropping pumpkin bombs.

The final team, Samurai Outriders, features Ghost Rider in his Robbie Reyes form, Blade, Loki, and Deadpool. Loki employs a trickster fighting style, using counters and illusions to outsmart opponents. This team delves into the supernatural aspects of Marvel lore, distinguishing it from the other squads.

Voice casting has been a hot topic since the character reveals began. Wolverine is voiced by Steve Blum, Doctor Doom by SungWon Cho, and Magneto by James Arnold Taylor, with Kellen Goff voicing Carnage. Josh Keaton voices both Iron Man and Spider-Man, a role he previously held in Marvel Cosmic Invasion, and is well-known for his portrayal of Captain America in ‘X-Men 97’ and Spider-Man in ‘Spectacular Spider-Man.’

In addition to the voice work, Arc System Works has given each character anime-inspired designs and unique move sets drawn from Marvel lore. Normal, Special, and Unique attacks reflect each hero or villain’s most iconic abilities, while Ultimate Skills unleash cinematic devastation across the team. Notably, Shuri takes on the Black Panther mantle in this version, utilizing long-range spear attacks and projectiles to control the battlefield before closing in with her claws.

The 20-character lineup is just the beginning. Arc System Works has announced that at least four additional characters will be added post-launch, with Phoenix Cyclops confirmed as the first DLC character. Marvel Database also hints at The Champion being among the game’s antagonists, tied to the Elders of the Universe storyline, raising speculation about future additions.

Hints from the official account suggest that more surprises may be revealed before launch. If the leaks about The Champion are accurate, he could become the 21st character, separate from the confirmed Year 1 DLC plans. ‘Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’ is set to launch for PC, PS5, and PS4 on August 6, 2026, so fans won’t have to wait long to see the action unfold.

With Venom notably missing from both the launch roster and DLC announcements, and characters like the Hulk finally confirmed after much speculation, it’s clear that Arc System Works still has many surprises in store. Which team will you build your first squad around, and who do you think should be the next character revealed for ‘Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls’?
